Hello tributes,
Feeling a bit more with it today!
I've updated totals for spends over the weekend - groceries were £53.14 which was more than last week but included cleaning stuff. Personal spends are way over budget as I had to get migraine tablets - but no chocolate/diet coke bought so I'm classing it as OK! Also got some paint for the bathroom, hopefully will give that a go next weekend, and birthday stuff. Today will not be an NSD, sadly, as need to order my sister's birthday present, but hoping to get a few for the rest of the week.
oldestgnome - your kitchen sounds great, well done on all the hard work!
kenyakate - pudding sounds v tasty, I love a food coma!
abundant - hope mojo returns, this is feeling like a looooong month already, I am trying to see that as a positive so I have lots of time to get back on top of things.
moomin - hope the dress hunt goes well. i find sometimes sticking with the same dress but getting completely different accessories makes it feel 'new' (and people don't seem to notice you've worn it before either!). Not sure what sort of style thing you're into, but I got a lovely dress for a wedding from the LadyV website (sorry, rubbish at links but you should be able to google it) and price was cheaper than highstreet.
Hope everyone is having a nice Monday.

Bit busy in NSK land... I sent a complaint to Tescos.. Thought I would post it here for you to read while I decide whether I want to actually do work and will write more later.... :rotfl:.. I put it on Bookface but understand not all of you Tributes are on there.... So here goes...
Dear Tesco,
I hope you don't mind me writing to you about your guacamole. It's not often I talk to people about guacamole but I thought it best to start. You see I like the stuff, especially eaten with a celery stick or
two or perhaps when really pushing the boat out I might buy myself carrot sticks. I sometimes make it myself when I have the time but on occasion I treat myself (yes that's what I as a vegetarian class as a treat) and buy a tub of the stuff pre-prepared.
It is however, with great dismay that I am continually disappointed by the guacamole sold by your fine store. I am a loyal customer, some may stupid, because I have bought three such tubs simply living in hope
of perhaps enjoying one of them. Alas it is not to be.
Unfortunately I think you know where this conversation is heading. Perhaps you have a work experience girl in your factory that favours the level of vinegar known only to those lacking taste buds or an oesophagus. My Mother thinks she was probably talking to her friends and poured in more than was necessary. Perhaps she is heading out at the weekend and wondering what shoes to wear and not thinking about how disappointing my day will be when I open said tub of guacamole only to be greeted with an offence of smells and taste. However I digress…
I bought a tub from the**** branch of Tesco's. A place I visit often. Not as often as you might assume. I do go out to places like a normal person. I also bought one from a branch in Belfast and another
branch somewhere else just as exciting but I honestly think I have driven it from my mind.
I have mentioned this once to your customer services who called me a few times then gave up. I thought they might be nuisance calls on purpose from the guacamole factory workers offended by my accusations.
Perhaps you could pass on my disappointment. More as a heads up for the next batch you make. It's the only version you sell that I know of unless I want some ghastly stuff in a jar from Old El Paso.
I am going to eat some hummus now.
Kindest Regards
An ever loyal customer.

The Tesco Response......:)
Hi NSK
I am sorry you do not like the taste of the Tesco Guacamole you have been purchasing from our stores. I can understand how disappointing this must be for you.
Okay, let’s guac and roll and get this looked into. This needs to be taken seriously as the Ancient Aztecs would be horrified to find out their invention was being ruined by some Dozy Dolly Bird who thinks she is Guacamolier than thou.
I would like to advise you that we have customer panels that fully test our recipes and we use their feedback to make sure that we produce all of our products to a very high standard. However, I appreciate that these may not be to everyone's taste, so I've logged your comments under reference ******
This log will be picked up by the relevant department. I am unsure if they will act on your comments and change the recipe but they will be taken on board.
I can see you have a good sense of hummus and I do not like to see you unhappy over this so I would like to send you a Tesco Moneycard for £5 so that you can try this product again. I only hope it will be to your liking this time.
To be able to do this I need you to confirm your full address including postcode. When I have this information I will be happy to send you the Moneycard.
I look forward to hearing from you. Have a nice weekend.
Kind regards

Well done for complaining Kat - not sure about the aspersions on the poor factory girl, it probably comes in giant containers which are mixed to a computer controlled recipe.
I visited our local curry sauce factory (which supplies all the major supermarkets from the terribly posh to the budget basics as well as their own brand) when I was doing my foundation degree - we were looking at how they dealt with waste/ energy efficiency and accidental spills - the foreman had done the course we were on many years previously.
The whole process was computerised from the crates of bottles coming in being sterilised and into the system, tomatoes in giant barrels (when I had an allotment their tomato barrels were our water butts), machine mixed spices (done according to the price levels of various SMs). The only places people were involved were taking out the tins and jars the machines had botched the labels on (not centred/ upside down/ crumpled) and taking the hot poppadoms off the production line and packing them when they cooled and a couple of fork-lift truck drivers.
Another non-spending day and I have added on £6 for the shop I did the other day (it was £5 + and I cannot be bothered to go through the mountain of bits of paper to find the one I worked it out on).
Trying hard not to panic - just jumped the hurdle of the 3 standing orders which go out mid-week (had a dispute last year as the company would not send me money they owed me and when the SOs were re-instated they moved forward). So a month with 5 Fridays ('pay day') and I have been hopping about scraping together the money for these. Now I have to start again for next month as the Council Tax will be full whack (DS3 is doing his final exams so no more 1/4 off) and the first half of the water rates is due (had it in the back of my mind but just dog-paddling at the moment).
Weeding has been done - too much in fact as now ache back and front and am not going to move off the bed for at least an hour - only took ibruprofen this morning, so just taken serious painkillers. So rest, a small cottage cheese salad and an apple and boxes of thread, craft bits and assorted slips of paper which need sorting to make me feel like I am getting somewhere.
Then will try to get the dry washing in - so nearly dry but left it a little longer (good weather a long time coming but glorious now. Already done the hard bit of lugging the green bin to the front of the house, just need to roll it to the pavement later. If I pace myself but get the same amount of physical work done for the next 3 days I will be very happy (only went out to do 5 minutes work - more like an hour and a half, did stop for water in between).
Go and check the bank accounts now - transfer last month's £20 back to the current account so it can be transferred again on Thursday (remind me why I didn't close that account - still hoping they will send me the new card they promised so I can get cash out when I need it - no pin for the current ac).

Hi Tributes,
Yesterday was a SFD for me, as I worked the night before. I am hoping today will be, but I am running low on food, and might have to go to the shops on the way to work tonight. There are several routes I could take to work, so I will try to be strong, but then there is the vending machine at work. I have no chocolate left and had to have a cup of hot chocolate to satisfy my craving. If I can hold out to after midnight that would be better as I am going food shopping tomorrow morning after work, so it would count as one spend day.
So I have done some forward projections and it looks like I will have to do at least 2 extra shifts a month to clear this debt fingers crossed by September. I'm not happy but 2 extras a month is better than the 2 extras a week I used to do.
I am hoping to save my spend money and have at least another £40 to send to the dreaded bcard, there is plenty I want but I will just have to wait!Debt-Free day 30th September 20140 -
Spend Free Day for me today - I think that makes 2 so far, maybe 3!
BUT...I have paid off and closed my last Credit card - which to be fair I only really ever used for buying computers (I need one every year for work as I am a heavy duty user and normally break the bloody thing!!)
I've streamlined my finances and I am looking forward to my next payday already! :rotfl:2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)

It was purely added for their humor which I think they appreciated. They have replied and told me my money card is on its way and thanks me for my humor. :T“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Well done Nellis
NSK - good to see some humour from them too, made me giggle - and £5 as a bonus - more guacamole? :rotfl:
Pub quiz is calling then no more spending until the weekend apart from train which is expenses from work so I don't have to pay for that. Might catch up on my SFD! Onward and upward Tributes0
