It's payday today, had a jiggle around of cash and moved £42.09 overtime into savings account for holiday fund. Another SFD for me again, hoping for one again tomorrow but feeling the urge of a takeaway with friends coming on after a busy week at work.

    2. SFD 7/15
    3. Petrol £0/£40
    4. Birthday £0/£10- for friend
    5. Social £12/£50....mainly for said friends birthday night out which was planned months ago
    6 LTW 6/23
    7. Part pay holiday £270.08/£300
    8. Lose weight 0/4lb

Off to bed, night tributes x

Morning everyone :) I missed yesterday's check in - oops! After a night shift, a few hours sleep, a supermarket run and a mammoth clean up, I fell into bed at 4am this morning...only to be woken again at 7am! Never mind, I'm sure I'll catch up with my sleep sometime!

There's nothing like the arrival of visitors to speed along a spring clean! I'm off out now to the dump and the charity shop with 5 bin bags full of stuff. I set aside some other stuff to be sold on ebay/gumtree. Ebay's new rules seem like they'll work in my favour as I'm not a big seller (clearly, otherwise i'd not be running to the dump/charity shop with a car full of stuff!!) and I usually wait for a free listing weekend so being able to list 20 items a month at any price for free sounds a lot better!

So yesterday saw a massive £49.34 spent on food  Although this includes a lot of extras as my parents are visiting. I bought a few bottles of wine that I normally wouldn't, plus extra food stuff (forgot how good olives were cos I never buy them for just me :)). This brings my total monthly food spend to £80 something (don't have my spreadsheet open at the minute, but will work out later) which is not bad as what I have will last me til beyond the halfway point in the month.

As yesterday was a spend day, my SFD total still sits at 8 (or is that 7? I really should refer to my spreadsheet before posting!) Still, consider this my Saturday check in. I hope you all have a lovely weekend :D

Oh dear, missed posting yesterday. That halo is slipping! :rotfl:

Well yesterday was another SFD (8/15 :money:) but again, not really due to my own efforts! I was kindly bought three lime and sodas in the pub. I felt I paid for them in criticism though! It seemed to be a huge problem that I was choosing not to drink alcohol, to the point where my mother announced to all her friends that my OH is "controlling" me by "making" me not drink.:mad::mad:

Then both M and my sister had wobblies when we got home, some justified, some just snarking at each other. I think maybe my presence acts as a pressure-releasing valve, as they both have someone to shout at about the other!

However, no point grumbling about it - and M has just offered to bring me a cup of tea in bed! :D (feeling appreciated again :rotfl: )

mothernerd - Streetbank sounds interesting, I will have to look into that.

applemuncher - good luck using up all your condensed milk, I can't really offer any advice on how to use it up though.

clippy - sorry to hear about your promotion.

lotti379 - families - you gotta love em.

Today will be a spendy day, I am doing a grocery shop and need to collect 4 mountain bike inner tubes I've reserved, they were half price though and I have used paypal money for them.

Kids are driving me crazy already this morning, fighting and screaming at each other and DD has just pushed DS violently to the floor, how do siblings not kill each other?

    Good morning all!

We only woke up at 8.45 today. It was a luxury except that dd and I had to be out by 9.30 to get her to her dance classes. For once she thoroughly enjoyed them with no tears!

NSD and workouts have stalled for a few days, so will do some exercise soon...

Thank you stewby for the recipe - i'll be trying that one later while trying not to eat it! I'll try to just inhale the fumes...

Quick post as I'm off to catch a train. Up to 6 SFDs, possibly a 7th today. And final student loan payment has arrived, £15 more than I thought it was! Got just under a year before repayments start, but nice to see it stop increasing (other than the interest).

Whoops my bad, I haven’t posted in a few days...for couple of reasons, I had two SFD on Tuesday and Wednesday and so not much to report. Also, previously when I have done these challenges, I have had a little spreadsheet, with the month, each row representing a day, and columns for SFDs, food spends and personal spends, I then update the spreadsheet each day. This time I was keeping track day-to-day without the spreadsheet which was ok for the first few days of the month but not now. However, I have now created a spreadsheet and will keep track that way as it’s easier.

Stats so far including today 8 SFDs, I ended up having 5 in a row from last Saturday to Wednesday.

I did my washing on Thursday. I walked to and from the train station saving on bus fare even though it was raining. I didn’t have much choice on the way there as I didn’t have enough change in my purse. I went to the cash point near the laundrette and could only get a £20. I didn’t want to give the laundrette a £20 note, so I went and bought 2 (£1 each) scratch cards to break in to it. After my washing it was drizzling slightly on the way back but I walked home anyway, so I saved £1.70 bus fare each way a total of £3.40.

A couple of hours later I remembered the scratch cards, anyway I won £5!!! I put the £2 stake money back in to my personal spends pot, so no difference there. I added the £3 profit from the scratch card to the £3.40 bus fare saving and transferred the £6.40 to my Bcard. I feel like I have performed magic, I have conjured up money from nowhere; just wish it had a few more zeros on the end. Therefore since my 30th April pay day I have now made 3 separate payments to my Bcard and my payment due date is the 12th May. I can’t wait to get my statement, to see my balance and interest going down.

Spent 75 pence on porridge oats - only put 2 spoonfuls in my yoghurt yesterday instead of 3 to eke the dregs out and my stomach was growling well before lunch.

DS1 was buying my bus ticket so hopped over to the library and then back on for the 2 stops to the bus station - still took me ages to get to Aldi, only across the bus station and a large crossroads, nearly gave up as my hobbling got worse. Back on the bus for the 8 mile trip to meet DS1 - fretted for first half of the journey worrying about being late. Then decided I couldn't make the bus go faster, so settled into reading my book - was less than 5 minutes late and the bus stopped 2 ranks over.

Back home now but intending going out to get a 10p loaf later - may buy more ys goodies (have made a few £ over the last few days, found a £1 outside and another under DS3's bed, mum and DS1 both gave me more than the taxi/bus fare so a few bargain veg with my bonus - if no bargains I will hang on till Wednesday for the n3ct*r point fest.

Defrosted a bag of berries overnight and filled a bowl with them and sugar-free jelly - that will be one of the 3 pieces of fruit a day I am allowed for the next 6/7 days (helps vary the fruit I eat). Defrosted a small piece of cheese (bought when DS3's gf was visiting and then frozen when she didn't eat it), grated it, added onion and then mixed in plain yoghurt and mayo to make a 'cheese spread as am on the last tub - should do another week, may not be cheaper than the commercial product (more of it but it will 'heap' rather than spread) but it is using what I had, rather than spending (and ticks the daily calcium box as well). Probably healthier too.

Sheets and other washing went out (had another rinse since) - nothing I need sooner than the end of the week and I feel good about it flapping out there rather than hanging limply all over the house.

Played freezer tetris and made space to freeze the lasagne portions, did more weeding and lots of little jobs (mainly getting wastebaskets of various materials to the relevant bins) so progress all round.

Know what you mean about saving money becoming addictive. Really hate having to spend money and am actively avoiding it. I do need some clothes - on the weight=loss path I have worked my way down through 3 lots of clothes (larger ones worn to rags or sent to cs if useful wear left). My current wardrobe is 1 dress, 2 skirts and a pair of jogging pants which have seen better days. I have a pair of linen trousers but wear them with the dress as my 'best' outfit - they start the day tight but get roomier during the day and I am a bit bothered they might start falling down (or split) if I wore them on an active day. I have 2 other skirts which are for painting (one is already covered in paint but neither is fit to be worn in public any more).

I set myself a target for clothes spending at the beginning of the year (luckily I have some decent bras which finally fit me again- all the huge tatty ones were worn to death), but increasingly find myself wanting to go 'hardcore' and only make clothes from the fabric I already have in the house, which isn't a lot but probably enough to make a capsule wardrobe + a couple of proper nightdresses (to replace the increasingly ragged non-matching tops and bottoms which got me through the last few years). I may need to do this anyway as I would like a proper walking coat - the one I want was £65 in the sales last year. I checked a couple of weeks ago and they are £175 -199 at the moment. I have looked in cs and there are some men's coats that look right (the sort of thing men go fishing in) but not sure which are the real thing and which are are just 'fashionably rugged looking'.

Must go and get in the bread fight queue - only joking, I can wait till Wednesday if there isn't one sitting there with my name on.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
