It was just a general comment that we (as in humans) all have far too much of an interest in each others relationships. I know nothing of your relationship, I'm sure it's just fine.0 -

Your original point was that marriages matter and relationships don't?0 -

Okay, just that you quoted my post which had nothing to do with the thread at all....and Professor Yaffle has been proved right.0 -

The reason I quoted your post was because it was the bottom one, thus easiest to quote.0 -
I admit I came from a broken marriage (I still don't quite understand why my mum and biological dad ever got together in the first place, I assume at some point they must have liked each other...) but my mum and step dad have been happily married for 25 years so at least my so siblings have a had a secure and happy upbringing.
I think I'm happier that my mum is happier now, plus it wasn't good for me to grow up with 2 parents who hated each other so I'm glad they got divorced. And before anyone asks why they brought a child into what was probably a doomed marriage, I was an accident
If I can have a marriage like my mum and step dads I will be happy (if I can ever find someone dumb enough to marry me :rotfl)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The relationships I was referring to were those where people shack up casually if you look at the post I referred to - children didn't come into it.0 -

Tbh it wasn't clear what you meant, but clear now.0 -
And yet you couldn't resist posting once yourself too, just like everyone else...**professor~yaffle** wrote: »..cue another 20 pages of arguing :rotfl:
Stop biting the bait, ladies. The post was put there to rile you all. And it's working.
**professor~yaffle** wrote: »I suppose it depends how it's going to affect other people.
Say if you've got kids. What's the better option, - to stay together and try to work things out or to split up, then introduce the children to a string of 'uncles' (who probably have various sprogs of their own via various women). It can all become a complicated mess.
Then again, if the parents are really desperately unhappy when they're together that's going to affect the children, too so maybe they are better off apart.
It's all about taking responsibility for your actions.
I get the impression that these days people want the big wedding day with all the bells and whistles, but they don't cope so well with the reality of being married.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
