Don't stop posting, Tropez - pfft! to anyone who doesn't like your posts.

Other people get paid a lot by the Sunday supplements for writing about their families in far less entertaining ways than you do, Tropez!

And we can read your posts for free.:T

Tropez, you're disappointing me here. That is taking a "throw my toys out of the pram because someone said something I didn't like" stance. The critical posts have not been aggressive or nasty in tone and you're under no obligation to defend yourself. People who don't like what you write should really just ignore it, but as that's not what happens on internet fora you should try to avoid taking it so personally.

Most people enjoy reading what you write. That's as much as you can expect if you manage to get published - why should it be 100% here?

I'm saying this as one who does enjoy your posts!

I agree, I saw nothing nasty and aggressive in tone in anything that was said.

I dont think anyone posting saying rolls eyes, some posters got out of the wrong side of the bed, without naming anyone in particular helps either.

I dont need to post on here to bump up a post count, I could be posting on another thread where people are more desperate and there are many people on here who need support.

Im not assuming the rolls eyes, some people got out of the wrong side of the bed comment at me, but it would seem it was either directed at me or Fbaby. No need for things to descend into a sticky bun fight, people are supporting the OP to keep posting, while having a pop at other posters, a bit sad really.

I dont think Fbaby said anything bad at all, they are always pleasant in their posting style even if they dont agree with someone, Ive disagreed with them on a few posts now and weve always managed to do it pleasantly.

I had a great weekend btw, certainly didnt get out of the wrong side of the bed:rotfl:

I haven't said that there was anything aggressive or nasty in tone.

I simply said I wouldn't post these types of threads again. Not leaving, not throwing toys out of the pram, not accusing anyone of being mean to me.

It was an admittedly useless post I started because I was up earlier than I intended on Saturday and I felt like sharing it.

Perhaps it is too late now but I just don't wish to be seen as some embittered complainer because it may alter the perceptions of actual advice I provide here in a negative manner.

And as I mention above, I have a number of character flaws. I'm aware of them and I'm working on them to be a better person for my wife. It's a slow process at times. ;)

I don't know. They phoned my house Saturday afternoon (thank you caller ID!) and I ignored it.

Haven't heard from them since, though last night I did feel a prickly pain in my side so they may have some sort of voodoo effigy of me that they're sticking with pins right now.

I simply said I wouldn't post these types of threads again. But there's no reason not to. You wouldn't have made that decision without a couple of posts on the thread, so you're attaching quite a lot of weight to them. Not leaving, not throwing toys out of the pram, not accusing anyone of being mean to me.

It was an admittedly useless post I started because I was up earlier than I intended on Saturday and I felt like sharing it. What makes it a "useless" post? Most of us enjoyed it.

As for people banging on about nasty or aggressive posts I don't think anyone has said that and yet again it's forum members reading something that isn't there!

As for the reference to my post I was actually rolling my eyes as the posts I'd read did come across as quite churlish/mealy mouthed in parts and quite unnecessarily so in my opinion.

Anyway that's me out and back to lurkdom I shall depart.

I REALLY enjoyed your original post, Tropez; you have a very engaging and entertaining style!

I've written a blog since August 2006; nothing up to your standard - but you are right, it can be terribly cathartic at times and also terribly rewarding to know that you have made at least one person smile or think about things in a different light. :o

I daresay that most of us have at least one or more relatives who can reasonably be described as parasites. Far better to laugh at them and their foibles than descend into bitter ranting. :)

The kangaroos though. Were they wearing togas and clutching tubes of KY Jelly in their supple little paws? If so, perhaps a visit to one's GP may be in order...?

Keep smiling and don't stop writing; your sense of humour is great ;) x

I like the robot idea, but you could maybe find a more "MSE" way of doing it?
I suggest a cardboard cut-out of two (or more!) persons very clearly engaging in sinful activities, that you could strategically place behind see-through curtains at your living room window. Even if the bothersome family can't understand the word no, such a sight may make them think twice about ringing your doorbell when all they were expecting was a roast dinner and a glass of sherry.

I don't think anyone's got out of bed the wrong side, thrown their toys out of the pram or whatever else has been mentioned. A fairly innocent comment was made by FBaby, no harm was meant by it I'm sure.

Tropez, you say you're doing creative writing classes? I guess that makes sense judging by your writing style. I find your posts/threads fairly entertaining, so don't stop on account of comments made by strangers on the internet who you don't know from Adam. I will just say one thing though, I can sort of see where FBaby is coming from, but that's probably because I'm not really a fan of creative writing, why say 10 words when one or two will do? But then again, I guess it then wouldn't be creative writing?!

I know that's just your way of expressing yourself and the majority of people seem to like it (you've got 88 thanks for your first post!), but to some, it might seem abit drama queenish making them wonder how much of the post is actually real?

There are some posters who appear to have got out of the wrong side of the bed today *rolls eyes*.

I agree. As I read it Tropez was able to inject some humour, into what was a light hearted vent about a situation that niggled him. Keep posting. If others don't appreciate your writing style they have a choice to not read or comment.
