Family reunions, a relative nightmare
Tropez doesn't that house your wife was keen to move to, you know the one which your relatives don't know the address of, just seem that bit more tempting suddenly? The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
Though what I did could be considered quite rude. Not everyone wants to hear about dirty, freaky parties first thing in the morning.
Oh I don't know I would find it quite entertaining to hear about your bacchanalian orgy party night thing plans.
Much better than my tactic of either not answering the door or answering the door whilst wearing a coat, in case its someone I don't want to see, then I can announce I am just about to leave.0 -
My dad used to do the same. When answering the door he always wore a hat,if he wanted you to come in he took off said hat and welcomed you in he "had just got in",however,if he hadn't the time of day for you he simply stated he was "on his way out"Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Perhaps before they went off to the hotel I should have mentioned my mum's gone off to the Lake District for the weekend with a friend of hers?
Must have slipped my mind.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Poetic justice!. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

Funniest bit
because they're such an adventurous bunch, they went to Grimsby once!
I have been to Grimsby and they don't joke when they tell you its grim there.
As for your rellies good on ya.
Have to say my uncle no longer visits, last time he came he said 'by eck love you aint ARF put a bit of weight on our lass'.
I told him not to bother turning up again cos i was moving to new Zealand. I told him I would write with my new address. Shame I haven't got round to that yet. :rotfl:63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
Do you really make every accounter with your family so dramatic every time?0

Good call Tropez. I wonder if they booked into a hotel before or after they spent 30 minutes knocking on your mum's door?
Incidentally Heffi1 my great aunt is 94 and refuses point blank to rise before 11am or retire for the night before 11pm. She has a great sense of humour and my 9 year old son adores her and the fact that she considers chocolate to be a suitable alternative for lunch :rotfl:0 -
I laughed my head off reading this, but no, you definitely weren't rude, the rude ones were your family thinking they could just turn up and expect to stay with you. I cannot abide people who knock on your door before lunch time wanting a chat, coffee etc, if you work, the weekend is sacred for you to lie in or just chill out in your own time, i am up early most weekends but still don't want anyone being scared the beejesus out of by me opening the door with no make up on ! and then expecting me to be civil. Living on the coast of Wales my in laws used to always come over at Easter, arriving on Good Friday and leaving on Bank Holiday Monday, bearing in mind it was the only break I had from work without using annual leave i always used to resent this, especially the extra shopping, house cleaning and then the endless walks around a packed town and sea front to look at the 'view' (that I am lucky enough to see everyday
) Thank God when other grandchildren came along , they go there now, so four days of bliss for me

Love your posts always make a beeline for them when I see them!
I'd interpret your dream from what you had said as being jumped by people that act like kids, it was a forewarning to what was going to happen!
