Which suggests practice what you preach! You assumed just because you popped the slip in the post box, that was it.......the rest well you wrote it
DUTR, Shhhhh now.....go for a cuppa and a lie down eh? I would prefer it if you left my thread now. Thanks so much for your help, it has really been appreciated. You take care.

Buel10, grow up, it's a public forum, it's open for all to see and any subscriber to respond, you are not obliged to follow any reply that you read, like others have suggested, you can ignore the correspondance from the two parties, that said, some have done that with the car parking fees, and soon find themselves in hotter water.
I do wish you well, in the case, but your Father must have raised you to face your responsibilities, it's part of being an adult and even you can be man enough and bright enough to do that, fighting the sytem does not always work, and the other keyboard warriors here..... well they are not the ones subject ot the correspondance, that I'm sure you can see, so whilst the reply is not what you may wish to read, deep down, you know it is not an attack and just as valid as the keyboard warriors defending you, when they could easily collectively , send you a fiver and pay the monies for you, if they are fully in support.
It's just like the whiners on the mobile forum, spending hours fighting with the mobile networks over price rises that were always mentioned in the contract, whether the subscriber chooses to read it or not is up to them.0 -
buel10, the best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them. In fact, if you go to your control panel, you'll find that you even have a handy "Ignore" list to which you can add irritating tosspots.Je suis Charlie.0

I agree, the trouble is filtering the trolls, from those that type what you don't want to read, and at the end of the day, the things you don'y like to read, just move onto the next post, as the ignore button doesn't work 100%, after all why are you reading my posts instead of using the ignore button yourself?0 -

Now that is a reply that I enjoyed more than your others.
DUTR, please do not misunderstand, I do not want to 'fight the system' or not 'face my responsibilities'. I started this thread to find out where I stand. Nothing more, nothing less. You may find this difficult to believe but I actually thought sending the slip off to the DVLA was all I needed to do. It wasn't laziness or anything similar.
If others have suggested that I can 'get away' with it then I appreciate their input too....but that is not why I am on here. So, with that in mind, you may perhaps understand why I thought the post I read of 'cough up' to be odd and unhelpful. I stand by that, too.0 -

Glad the reply was now to your liking....the part in bold yes I agree, you posted to find out where you stand, (I don't want the thanks button pressed for my posts) you seem more receptive to those that are typing what you wish to read rather than what you need to know, I don't want to see you fall, I don't know who rossendales are, but if they are debt collectors, then this can affect your credit record which may hinder you later, like you mentioned in the original post you are aware ignorance is no defence .
I am not telling you off or saying you are running away from responsibilities.
I'm afraid those saying just ignore the correspondance is not good advice, it doesn't affect them, so they too can be deemed as trolls and misinformers.
I hope you understand where I am coming from.0 -
I have written a similar letter to Rossendales and was due to send that to explain the situation. Should I just avoid contact with these people and stick to just the DVLA?
Do not respond to Rossendales.
Do respond to the DVLA because you need written evidence that you contacted them to point out that you DID return the V5 slip, in case the DVLA try to include you in their next round up of cases in a small claims court near you. There are forum threads about this and people win in 5 minutes, routinely, when they tell the court that they did send the V5 slip (and even better, that they can evidence that they have told the DVLA this fact). Case dismissed, next!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

DVLA trying to raise revenue like this when they know perfectly well that the most likely explanation is that they lost the mail is bordering on fraudulent.
Small wonder they'll do nothing about PPC scammers when their own hands are so dirty.Je suis Charlie.0
