Talk talk increase prices....again!

Hi

I've got a letter to say from May tt are increasing their broadband by another £1 each month to £8.50


Just over a year ago it was £6.50, so an increase of over 30%!!!


I have only just renewed my yearly line rental in advance otherwise I would leave as I hate these big % increases.


Is anyone else annoyed like me and going to switch? I'm so annoyed I'm locked in for another year.

That would depend on what you can get elsewhere. TT are still cheap (for a reason of course).

You can leave without penalty (assuming you took out the new contract since Jan 23rd 2014 and weren't told the price rise was coming).

You have a month to leave.

If you have only just renewed, can you not cancel, when you confirmed the price of broadband, did they inform you the price could/would go up?

Even if you've renewed your yearly line rental, you can get a refund if you've not used it all - they will just charge for the months you've already used at their normal rate.

It's worth noting that the Essentials BB is going up from £7.50 to £8.50 and Simply BB is going up from £2.50 to £3.50, but Anytime UK calls is coming DOWN from £5.50 to £5, so the combination of Simply BB and Anytime Calls is better value than Essentials BB which only includes Evening 7 Weekend calls. They have recently made some of their paid for options free of charge, and never have charged for caller display, which is chargeable now with BT.

Talk Talk will allow anyone leave .

"TalkTalk says customers have a 30-day period from being told about the price rise to leave penalty-free. It will be contacting existing customers from 27 March.

New Ofcom rules mean you can leave mobile, landline or broadband contracts penalty-free if a provider ups prices during a contract if it hadn't warned you about the rise when you bought it.

But the rules only cover contracts signed on or after 23 January. However some providers, including TalkTalk, may allow customers with contracts taken before 23 January 2014 to leave penalty free as the result of a price rise."

It seems that TT are rather cynically driving people towards taking triple play bundles (calls, broadband, and TV) by increasing the relative price of the first two in comparison to taking all three). VM did much the same many years ago.

Hi Mickygg,

I was annoyed when I heard this too.

I've just taken out an 18 month contract in Feb and wasn't told about the price rise.

How ever bad it was for them to do it, I've realised it's still cheaper than being with other providers.

So I guess it's one of those things where you just have to shrug it off. Annoying as it may be.

Glad someone else feels the same though.

Where did you get the information that anytime was coming down ? On their website, along with the new price for simply at £3.50, they are still listing the anytime boost at £5.50 and their price change info does not mention it. http://sales.talktalk.co.uk/pricing/info/pricing-notification
