Talk talk increase prices....again!

This price increase email has forced me to look at my bill. I was paying £11 for the essentials package & anytime calls but without the You view box.
I contacted on them, have swapped to the simply broadband package & anytime calls for £8.50 a month even though I was only a short way into my previous contract.0 -
Been with Talk Talk for some years now for the phone and the deal is unbeatable, I went with them for BB as well last September and it's been blooming awful so, come contract end time I'm off.
I will gladly pay more to have a reliable BB service and decent customer service rather than the intermittent BB and the awful customer service that TT give.
I may contact them to see if I can get an earlier release owing to the line price increase but I'm not expecting to get anywhere, however, it's got to be worth a free phone call.Live long and prosper0 -

That's odd - my experience with TalkTalk has been extremely positive. I was expecting the worst (switched to them because it was so cheap) but it's been excellent. Customer service needed from time to time for the odd thing (mainly changes to the account) and it's been faultless. Quick, effective, helpful, and absolutely at the other end of the spectrum from BT, who are just awful. Ofcom back view that up, too.
The price increase enabled me to get a much cheaper deal than I had before by saying that I was planning to cancel the contract. You might want to do the same. You're entitled to do it within 30 days of the price increase notification.
If you can't get a better deal from them you can leave. Win win!0 -
And don't forget the 12 months advance line rental which saves about £5 per month WITHOUT committing to a new contract, start NOW before the price goes up, and every month, if you pay your bill by debit or credit card within 24 hours of the e-mail notifying you that it is ready, you get a 15% reduction. That has saved me about £3 per month for 5 months so far.0

However - if you do pay up front for 12 months, that puts you in a worse position for negotiating a discount on the next contract term (which is always easy with TT, they even automate it sometimes). You can't really leave if you've already paid up front for line rental, I doubt they refund?
So would you get a worse deal on renewing your contract if you've paid for Value line rental?0 -
I think I have just finished negotiating my new 12 month contract with them. Last year paid line rental up front, then got Essentials eve/wkend calls and broadband for £1.25 per month. This week at renewal, compared new offer with Sky and called TalkTalk.
Here's my new deal.
£126 value line rental up front.
£1.75 per month broadband w eve/wkend calls
£20 credit "goodwill" for time spent on phone
replacement new router as old one pre-dates my move into house
Had to call them yesterday when new router was delivered, it was a "value" 2-port (£30) not Plus 4-port (£45). But I explained it was to replace old white 4-port so not a fair swap. Asked to cancel within cooling-off period if I didn't get it, and "goodwill" means I now get it.
Apr '12 - Mar 13 £240 total bills call charges etc
Apr '13 - Mar 14 £160 total bills call charges etc
Apr '14 - Mar 15 £160 total bills call charges etc estimate
I do feel I've spent too much time on the phone to them, but I feel I have got better value deal considering price rises etc.
I do find the customer service experience exasperating at times, it's so long-winded and the hold music is irritating, perhaps deliberately so!0 -

You've done well to get your Essentials package for a measly £1.75 pm when it should be £8.50.
In hindsight I should have argued for a better deal than the half price for 6 months they offered me.0 -
I just use broadband and was on their essentials package. I did my initial year and had 9 months half price with free installation. When my year was up, it seemed like I was still on a pretty good deal paying £6.50 per month.
Now I've received notification that it's going up to £8.50. I can see that they now offer a new broadband only deal that's about £3.50 which would be much better for me but I have no time to swap now as I'm moving house in July. All pretty annoying.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

amiehall, why don't you call Talk Talk and explain your situation. If you know details of where you're moving to, see what providers are available there and use it to your advantage.0

I haven't sorted anywhere to move yet, but I'm planning on moving into a share for a bit so I something like that isn't really suitable. I guess it's not a lot of money, but it all adds upSealed Pot Challenge #239
