Talk talk increase prices....again!

So I've had my 30 window to cancel TalkTalk in an email.
Over the weekend joined BT, this morning I've had email from TT telling me i will be charged for any remaining months on my contract, about 12 months. Which will be billed.
I believe that it's just a standard generated email when someone cancels.
Question Is, do i cancel direct debit from TT and await bill, then argue from there if they try to charge me? Or do I have to call them and battle through there time consuming call centre? I have previously been promised things before by call staff and had long battles with them to honour.
I feel if they charge me a cancellation fee if will be difficult to get it paid back!
I would cancel the DD before they charge me. If they try to bill me for something I am not supposed to be paying I will complain, but I am not going to pay upfront something I am not supposed to be paying.0 -
I received the price increase notification on friday, Im wondering given that Im currently in about month 9 of the plus tv package if I use the 30 day exit period will they expect the youview box back?
Any ideas anyone?0 -

Well, I signed up with BT, so going to get a youview box off them anyway. Been on online chat and got confirmation of no cancellation fee, they didn't say anything about having to return box, neither did the email i recieved. Will just wait and see if they ask for it. I presume if i get to keep their youview box, it will only become a freeview box after all talktalk stuff cancelled.
They'll offer you a deal if you ring them, but you'll be tied in for another 18 months. I swapped really for free BT sport and £122 Topcashback and £50 sainsbury voucher. Allthough i see Quidco have upped there cashback today0 -
Just chatted on line and been told that I can leave without any penalties and will only be charged for services used up to and including switch date. I was aso given a number to ring to leave and told that I could also do it on-line (I've saved a copy of the chat incase I need to quote it should I get a incorrect final bill).
Now, do I let Plusnet handle the switch, which they are prepared to do, do I phone the TT number that I was given or do I inform TT of my intentions on online? I'm thinking ring TT ........ hmmmm, thoughts?Live long and prosper0 -
Well, 2 to 3 weeks and I should be up and running with Plusnet :j
When I rang talk talk all they offered me was to pay the price increase for 12 months :rotfl: and gave me the usual guff like, our phone services are the cheapest, we get a lot of people leaving and then a few weeks later they're back, we give a lot of extras free whereas you pay for them with other providers blah blah blah.
I'm sure that there'll be some talk talk created hold up with the switch and I'm sure I'll get a ridiculous bill to pay despite the 2 seperate confirmations I've had that I will only be charged for services up to and including switch day.
Here's looking forward to a month or so down the line when I'll be rid of the horrendous outfit called talk talk.Live long and prosper0
