  • Well I and many others around me say atom. I've always thought it was atom, Never heard of Adam. Saying that, when I say atom and adam they both sound the same to me, so there's plenty of us who are saying it wrong. But again, why make fun some someone for saying it?? Still not very nice either way. seems to me that people are picking on people and nit picking just for the sake of it. Again, that's what bullies like to do.

I'm Irish and I say Adam, never heard atom used at all.

If someone says they teach kids and then posts and all those posts have bad grammar, spelling errors and wrong sayings then is saying so bullying or nit picking?

With due respect, it would appear that most of the posters on here like me have never heard it referred to as "wouldn't know from Atom" - which makes very little sense when you think about it. However "wouldn't know from Adam" is a very old saying - and here is the meaning of it:- http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=1490071

I'm certainly not bullying anyone - and I resent the implication that I am. Please withdraw that remark.

So the only two posters who thought it was atom (which, BTW, is hilarious) are the two posters trying to convince us they're not the same person. At least make some effort guys, this is too easy.

Why did you think it was atom? It's just bizarre you went through your whole life without ever questioning this!

Sad that you and your fake friend are helping bring up the future of this country

Also what's so funny about that phrase you don't know me from atom??? You don't know her, or me, or anyone else on this thread.
    That's a common saying/phrase here in N.Ireland.!

Oh my! I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and just assumed it was an auto correct or something....but you're serious?! :rotfl:

By the way to whoever asked me where abouts in England I live. I don't live in England. I live in Portadown in N.Ireland. I also said nothing about living on a council estate. Why would I? There's nothing wrong with council estates.

As for the people who are trying their best to put IrishRose down and make a laughing stock of her. Shame on you. That woman is defending herself and you are just laughing at her. No if that isn't a form of bullying then I don't know what is. Fair play to you IrishRose, continue to stand up for yourself and I'm sure from reading your posts you do great work in your school. There are many a person who wouldn't put in that extra mile for some children, and spend their own money on them. You should be praised for doing that, not laughed at and made fun off! I think the people who are doing so on here are a disgrace!

That was my mistake, I thought you'd said that swearing was common where you live in England, but that's not what you said.

And it was me who mentioned council estates because it's generally thought that people who live on council estates have a more limited vocabulary than those who don't. As I live on a council estate myself I was not looking down on people who live here at all, I was just wondering where is rougher than where I live, to the extent that adults swearing at children is considered to be normal.

As for irishrose, I wasn't laughing at her, and even said I thought she was probably a nice TA.
