    - save £1025/£500
    - 8/15 sfds
    - groceries £111/£200
    - 9/10 30 mins+ walks

I also intend to clear out the freezer, do more crafting and live a healthier life in April :)

Spent £64 in Mr A's last night but £20 of that was alcohol for the weekend (family get together) and another £9 was on cat food.

Another decent work with dog this morning, just one more to hit my monthly target.

Freezer is looking considerably emptier now as I've removed the huge turkey crown and gammon to defrost for Sunday. Will be lots of meat left over, may be living on turkey and ham for a couple of weeks ;)

Luckystarr- I do a massive online shop at 'trose once a month I get discount so it works out well for us. Never had any issues with the delivery service.

Spend day today, went to the land of ice and howdy aldee and topped up on things for the weekend.

After deciding enough is enough with DH complaining about being skint I have done his accounts and found that he is just compulsively buying and doesn't need to! He could be well in the clear in a few months if he stuck to a budget. Sadly I don't think there is any hope, he knows there is an issue and won't confront them so not much I can do!

  • Hello everybody! We have returned from our holiday a bit browner, full of brilliant memories, but broadly within budget (£36 over at airport on the way home) and it is so exciting to come back without having to brace myself for the CC bill! I have read up on the thread where I could during the trip but just treated myself to a complete read through – took 3.5 hours to catch up on all your news!

When you read the thread on mass you really get a sense of the habits we are all trying to embed…and what a great groundswell of change this journey requires of us…how much combined we are all saving…and what an incredibly motivational place we have here (thanks Kat!) …this time food features a lot too!

I am excited to have paid off THREE of my FOUR CC’s this morning, aided considerably by the lump sum I inherited, but the small steps I’ve been taking for the last 10 months put me in the right place to do it. I’m 76% of the way there with the formal debt now, with just under 1800 to go. I had thought I would need to do a balance transfer for an odd bit but I have pulled the purse strings really tight for the next few month (it was payday for me on Thursday) and paid the full amount off. I can’t believe how different my budget looks without all those payments leaving next month and I keep just staring at the spreadsheets in happiness.Have tried telling people but they don't really get how liberating seeing those numbers go down is!

I’m planning on sticking to the tight budget and waving this last formal debt goodbye by mid July. I can now up the DD for my informal loan from my folks,, so I look forward to seeing that start to go in the right direction too. I am planning to close two of the CC completely but keep two in total (one with the interest free balance I am paying down, and one empty one but which often offers better deals) as a short term back up, as I don’t have any savings for a buffer yet. Longer term aim will be to build a savings pot and close all but one of the CC’s (keeping it empty, of course!). Perhaps I should freeze it like you did Mrs GSW?

I was celebrating getting to this stage with a quiet few lazy days at home (DD has returned to her Dad) but inspired by reading everyones stories here, I have accepted a couple of bookings from last minute guests – including one for tonight, so I best change from sloth to speedy gonzales, and get tidying. House looks like a bombsite, with half unpacked cases everywhere. I’m off on a course next week so also need to re-pack at some point, and I have hired a cleaner to come in between two sets of guests as I wont be here when the first set leave, so I need to get everything ready for her too. I will really look forward to being able to turn down inconvenient bookings when things aren’t so very tight. But just got to remember they are still very tight now, so I don’t lose my way in these last few months!

Thanks everyone, for your help to get this far! I am one very happy crazylady x

    afternoon :)

just sitting around doing nothing atm :) started to sand the windows with the sander but woke my neighbour who was on night shift so stopped it to laze around! will sand them by hand tomorrow afternoon as tbh they only need a light rub and think it will be easier by hand.

so went to lidl and tesco and spent about £40 on the bigish shop. also spent £9 in £land on some bargain diy stuff i needed and a new mop and bucket. also tried their 4 for £1 toilet rolls as they seem quite thick and good quality.

going to make the yellow curry from jamies cheap book soon for dinner tonight but im using chicken breast instead of legs as i have lots of that in freezer. will also clean the living room window and tidy up before the gym.

  • Happy Easter raindrops!! Hope everyone has plans for a lovely extended weekend?

Today I got SFD #9 and exercise #12 (technically 13 as I did 2 jillian michaels workouts, after spending the whole day eating cake (for work, I had a legit reason but my waistline won't understand that). A 3rd person expressed interest in my gumtree thing and then never responded again - it's like really bad internet dating?!

    Evening all,

Spend day today :( I was good all day and went out for preplanned drinks with friends. I drove, so kind of hoped my passengers would offer to buy me a soft drink, for my troubles (their houses are completely in the wrong directions to where we were going). But no offers so I bought my own and lost a SFD :( Needless to say they won't be offered lifts again!

Hope you've all enjoyed the sunshine, think I've got a little sunkissed from the glowing emanating from my forehead!

I'm claiming another NSD for yesterday :j. Plus another exercise session :j. Plus a no sugar day :j.

Today we're returning a mid-sleeper bed a friend gave us, as it's too high for what dd wants, plus is missing some parts, so may not be safe! And a bag of stuff will go to the Sally Army.

And the mission is to find dd a suitably sized notebook so she can do a field journal about fairies. We'll trawl the charity shops first, but I expect we'll end up in whs or suchlike.

We may make some chocs today using the plastic liner from an old box of chocs as the mould. Certainly cheaper than the choc lolly-making kits you can buy! :EasterBun

Off to help load the car.

    Morning!

Another dull Saturday for me. The curse of being a retail family means long bank holiday weekend doesn't really mean anything to us!
No plans for today other than a SFD, which are looking pretty rubbish lol
