Sorry was too ashamed to post on here, yesterday. Generally the all week bus ticket has been a good thing - cleared out the cs stuff under the table in the vestibule and the 3 giant boxes in the hallway have been reduced to one (the smallest) and other bits have gone as well.

Have been staying up late (reading on here) and struggling to get up in the mornings but was waiting for the water meter survey man yesterday, so re-located to the sofa by 8am (3 1/2 hours sleep). Sorted that (it will have to be outside - nearly got away with them reducing anyway because he couldn't find an individual stoptap) and went through information DS1 needs for his passport. Short nap then set off for the day.

Needed to put cash in business bank account - it had been niggling in the back of my head but haven't been able to face 8 mile bus ride (and struggling to find money for bus fares). Did that - looked at tights on the way. Had a £2 voucher for a store (short cut to bank) and looked at thick tights - decided against puce ones (£3) and wasn't paying for the £6.50 ones (yes I know that is the price - the pair I have [marooned in the attic] must be 7 years old).

After the bank I moved on to Debnums - planned purchase of bathmat (to be saved for viewings). Not as extensive as selection on-line but picked a set marked as £20 down from £40 (individual ones were £23 -£30 when I looked a few weeks ago). At the till it came up at £12, I had an £8 voucher so £4.

Pretty much done in by this point (maybe 20 - 25 mins walking, in stages) so sat on a bench and had water. Worked out best way back was to go down in lift, through B**ts and catch any bus going into bus station. Bought a meal deal:eek: . Sorry - had taken 2 bananas but they were at the bottom of the rucksack - refused a carrier - and really needed painkillers by this point.

Got bus back, re-shuffled rucksack on bus, carried on past the house to town centre. Got to library 15 minutes before closing, old book in, 4 out, round the corner to DS2's. Letters for him, used toilet, sat down for 1/2 hour, discussed finance (still no money for me but knew what he was paying for phone, council tax, overdraft etc) and health. He didn't get his promotion but boss is going to train him up and hopes to give him more money and responsibilities in 2-3 months.

Took me 5 minutes (3 attempts) to stand up (can't put weight on the 'bad' leg after sitting, fine once the pain/cramping stops - can be embarrassing on buses). Went for the bus and then diverted to Arseda and blew £10.01 on stuff that I don't need and is bad for me. Couldn't even look at the receipt until this morning and put the bag out of arm's reach (had a choc muffin).

Magazine I bought (will aggravate/frustrate me - only buy magazines when I am down) is business expense so only £5.02 on carp (sugar/ fat) really shouldn't especially after 5 weeks of minimal activity - so disgusted with myself.

Am still under-budget but planning a mega shop tomorrow - need to spend over £40 to get £15 off and planning to stock up on tins (pulses/veg/fruit), frozen and bargains. Told Ds3 he is coming (lots of heavy stuff to carry - he mentioned a taxi, I said fine, he's paying for it. Gf is coming on Monday (for a week?) then little stair repairer will return.

Need to re-stock for my own peace of mind. Whether you subscribe to Maslow's hierarchy of needs or not ('poorest' people are more generous than 'well off'' IMO and experience) I need to quiet the little voice saying "We are going to starve" in order to deal with some of the other problems.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Woah woah woah there mothernerd! What's this "disgusted with myself" business?! You are doing incredibly well dealing with a heck of a lot of stressful circumstances all at once, I don't think you need to be beating yourself up for £5.02's worth of sugary food. If it was £5.02 every day, then you'd have a point, but it isn't... And it sounds like an exhausting day before even attempting A5da! Everyone has slip ups and buys unplanned things... I bought wine, pizza and chocolate puddings on an impulse last week, after pledging I wouldn't buy alcohol for home consumption :o (never mind the fact I had food in the house and didn't need to get the pizza or choc puds either...) (and I had a KFC tea last week too :o:o:o). But that is why we are here, doing this challenge - to improve our habits, which takes time and practise. Also, if no-one ever slipped up, none of us would get to feel useful by offering a [STRIKE]slightly dodgy-looking[/STRIKE] supportive group hug! :rotfl:

Sit down, have a cuppa :coffee:, breathe... I for one think you're doing bl**dy well!

mothernerd, please don't ever feel ashamed of what you post. You are so honest and upfront with us, and an amazing woman.

We're enjoying a few days at the coast. The sunshine is glorious but the wind is biting. It's relaxing to be away from home, all together.

We had a jaunt to the local town with its charity shops and I am now the proud owner of my very own scooter (until dd decides she likes it better than her's!) Thrilled :j:j! We avoided the coffee shops and just came back once we'd done all the charity shopping we wanted.

And I've done another lycra-worthy workout, a bodyweight one that has managed to turn my legs to jelly. Luckily we're staying in a flat!

Right, got to operate on a buildabear we found in a ch shop, to find the tag they put inside when they make them! Could get messy...

Lol Mothernerd :D In reality, most people I work with spend more than what you 'blew' every lunch time. Please don't EVER feel ashamed to post on here! We never judge eachother here, just offer advice if needed :T The rest of us have no shame (well I think some members may wish I had, some of what I post :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) Just get whatever you want off your chest. But, with everything you have going on, I think we'd forgive you if you were ordering Moet by the case load let alone a spend in A$da :rotfl:

Well I was working from home today, so in a good mood :D Feeling a lot better and my appetite has returned! Thanks for those that mentioned Flylady. The downstairs was cluttered was boxes and allsorts for years :o In under an hour I got rid of it all :T

Nothing spendwise today, may try to do some exercise, depending on how I feel.

Well take care everyone and keep going :)

I do love my family dearly, and they do so much for me, but after having very little to do with them for over 20 years, I'm still adjusting to having them around ALL the time.

Forgot to say, I got given a £100 ocado voucher, so will be planning my shop for the next few days and resisting the temptation to spend it all on lovely food that I can't afford normally!! I see a cupboard full of pasta and lentils heading my way!!

Can only agree with the other mother nerd, give yourself a break, we all need a treat from time to time.

Today was a planned spend day, first I used some boots points to get the shampoo I like and some glucosamine for my knee. Bought a load of stuff from poundsqueezers that we needed for the home.
Still off work :( I feel like my knee is going to give way though, I can walk but it's slow and sore, stairs are a nightmare which isn't great when your house has two sets of stairs!
Sat and done all the joint account workings out for the months and all is looking good :-)

    Evening all,

mothernerd I agree with the others, the amount you do is amazing and a treat every so often is fine. I am on school holidays at the moment and I am having far too many treats. I keep telling myself that it is ok as during working weeks I don't have time for treats or DIY, so most of my spends are focussed around the holidays.

dolly hope you are feeling more comfortable soon!

SiannieLaz congratulations on the ocado voucher, maybe allow yourself one or two treats and the rest basics?

I have had another spendy day and I bought clothes!!!! I haven't taken the tags out yet as I am not sure whether I should take them back but I really like them. Will mull it over, over the next few days.

Thanks to the flylady thread my house is coming together and looking much more respectable :)

Hope you are all doing well
