Morning,
Good day so far. Completely paid off the rest of my spending CC
It's still in the freezer and will remain there. At least I've achieved something this month other than decluttering. Hee hee!
Booked car into garage next week for the work it needs done so that's good, waiting in for the new bath panel today, rock and indeed roll.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Oh dear oh dear... I've been through my budgets with a fine toothed comb and have managed to "lose" just under £35. Not very pleased with that. I think I must have miscalculated at the start of the month and that has just been carried through. Still, I'm not overbudget (yet) but definitely feeling a bit stoopid.
Also discovered on Saturday me and Mr L's ma have bought him the same birthday present. Oops. Need to liaise better next time.
Feeling a bit despondent really overall, I'm really not very good at this...
However, I'm going to bring it back and get back to the daily posting, instead of thinking "well I won't meet my targets for the month so blow it"..!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Forgive me one and all for being so late in adding what is more than a few lines of uninteresting mumbles recently....
I am feeling quite woozy and a little bit worn out today. I have only just got to work but I think I came back to soon. I HAD to do an overtime shift on Sunday which meant only two full days to suffer and try and recover.
If I cancelled OT it would mean I would be banned for 28 days (possibly) and I could not afford to say I was sick to them as the shifts I have this coming weekend would have been cancelled (I think) so I resumed to work and I think it's all happened a bit to fast. I honestly could do with a lie down right now.
However - work is transitioning this week due to essential maintenance whereby every person (500+) is being moved to other locations around London and I (WHOOP WHOOP) get to be relocated to a very large transport hub (can't be too specific) as they will have space for me (a desk basically).
This might not sound thrilling to many of you but it means no real work for me, no boss, access to Starbucks free internet (I think) - albeit a very long commute from one side of London to another I will have many other areas of the building I can explore and get to know that have nowt to do with my job! Lol! And it's something different....:T:T:T
So the next few weeks are madness for me really... (Thursday to the new location, then dinner with two of my closest friends for a late birthday celebration, off Friday and will spend it with a girlfriend in a park being lazy, working Saturday and Sunday night on OT, off Monday to vegetate, new workplace Tuesday-Friday, no work and then possible back to normal with a flight back to Ireland on the 30th..) .PHEW!!!
The very expensive case for my new MacBook is going back - £65 saved (don't shout).. and I am keeping the shell and getting a cheap neoprene case as well.
£98 remainder from eBay sales sent to CC, along with £25 from the birthday meal I paid for when Mumsy was over and once the refund has come back for the laptop case I will have £125 left on there which I will get from somewhere if it kills me.
Cineworld haven't taken the money they should have which means they might have attempted to take it from my other account but I can't check cause I left my purse at home - no on purpose!
Grr! Feel like my head is about to explode!
Right... back to read posts now!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Had a lovely date night with the OH last night, but ended up spending about £30 - albeit had a 3 course meal with wine and had a few more drinks after, so good value but a bit more than I planned spending. So that's my treats & social budgets blown for April, will try and scrape that back over May/June. Have technically reached food budget but used lots of nectar points so have £10 left.
Going to have to maximise the SFDs for the next two weeks!New graduate trying to get debt-free.
Make £5/day challenge: August £84.08/155
I owe £5400 (plus £34,000 Student Finance)

- save £25/£500
- 7/15 sfds
- groceries £45/£200
- 6/10 30 mins+ walks
I also intend to clear out the freezer, do more crafting and live a healthier life in April
SFD - I intend to still have £500 sitting in my bank on Thurs night.
Enjoying taking the dog out for walks - I really need to convince Hubby AND motivate myself to go out for walks once the dog goes home, especially now the evenings are lighter.
Freezer is still quite full!0 -
Hello All
Thank you for all of the positive comments and tips i am feeling the love.:grouphug:
talked to my OH about my spending and what we think it means he thinks i am not as bad as i think but we have agreed i can be an emotional and impulsive spender . I didn't have an deprived upbringing financially but maybe emotionally ... but suppose the way my mother shopped/behaved etc has had an impact and ever since i can remember i have struggled to hold onto to money and family always said it "burnt a hole in my pocket".
Meal planning is a must and keeping my cards at home.. I envelope our money for food, petrol etc but always seem to dip in them and the food weeks run into each other, does anybody do an online shop ?? if so does this help ??? and what supermarkets do you use ??.
we have written a list of goals for 2014 and becoming debt free is one of them. It would be amazing to be debt free as we could then save towards a holiday and deposit on a house .
going to claim today as a SFD and hoping to get to the gym but will reserve changing the gym figure till later.
Thank you for helping me guys/gals i really appreciate it (sorry for the long post)0 -
Afternoon raindrops.
Posting is a bit hit-and-miss I'm afraid. I have managed to pick up a stinker of a cold as well as working night shifts, not a great combination at all.
In good news...
* We have £21 of budget left until the 26th April.
* I am still managing to work despite the fact I can't really breathe through my nose.
* A grand total of 10 spend-free days (the one from the other day and today, went to morries yesterday and bought the weeks shopping).
* I am not wii-fitting but I am exercising. Doing walkies with my mum and also with my family. Reached about 10 miles so far.
The not-so-good news...
* I am feeling very sorry for myself cause I have a cold.
* OH is feeling a bit homesick so we might use a bit of the travel fund to get him home for a weekend. (it's not so good because I don't like spending savings cause then I always think of what the total should have been).
Put the shopping smush into the bankies so have rounded the money to £21 which isn't too bad I think.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi all. Came home with a banging headache
Managed to put 13.00 in my jar for the 365 in 365 days challenge bringing me to 150.00 :j Still feel a bit odd out and about, so probably not 100% better. All was not well in paradise as our computer system is down, which is a nightmare, so clocked off early.
Take care everyone and KEEP going :T:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -

Evening All,
Fmess - are you following flylady? I have signed up for the emails (and there are loads!) and am finding it very motivating, even tho it totally goes against my disorganised brain!!
Mooomin - hope your first day went well xx
Luckystarr - I'm an emotional spender as well, and although my upbringing was comfortable for the first 12 years then chaotic, it definitely effected me then and still does now. My parents are polar opposites, I saw my Dad frittering away money but always having fun and my Mum stressed and miserable, worrying about bills. So I followed the funAlthough it hasn't led to much fun these days!!! It is hard to break the cycle but you can do it, I find that I just have to be mindful of everything I do and it's hard work, but I'm already seeing the benefits.
No SFD for me today as spent £6.40 sending a guaranteed delivery letter to my evil ex-LL. Have said that if I don't receive the money within 14 days, I'll start court proceedings. Done now, letter sent, no going back. Am expecting a brick thro the window rather than a cheque thro the door but I'm probably worrying over nothing. Was telling my ex about it the other day and he offered to go round and 'sort it out' until I mentioned the family name, then he just starting muttering a bit and changed the subject!!
On a lighter note, my brother, SIL and niece arrived from Oz this morning and were duly dragged straight round here by my Mum. They were all completely shattered but were going to try and stay up until at least 7.30 so they can try and get into our timezone. My niece totally wore out DD who fell asleep on the sofa at 5.30! Normally she's still bouncing off the walls then, so nice quiet night for me so far!
Have been using YNAB for the free trial, but have got totally confused with it, due to the way my bank deal with my money. YNAB kept showing I had lots of cash, but as I have a managed bank account, money for bills is held back so the funds I thought I had available for saving pots will actually be held for bills next month. So will be putting together my own spreadsheet tonite. I need to get a new bank account sorted as I'm charged for mine, but I'm a bit scared of taking back all the responsibility. Although, I guess I'll never fully change the whole time I'm letting someone else do it for me
