Hi again! Just sat down with a coffee. My 'thanks' button is only seems to work some of the time, I'm afraid.
Well, I'm sat here wondering how best to break the news to DH that I've 'slightly' damaged my car! I know why and how it happened - since he changed his small 4x4 for a bigger (huge) one, we've had to change how we park in the drive so, instead of me being able to just drive in in a straight line, I have to go in on a slant and sort of tuck the car in to make more room for his car. This makes it harder to reverse out (I can't reverse it into the drive because there's not enough room to swing out on the road since they put the new lamppost in and the entrance to the drive is very narrow) so, after several attempts at shunting it, I managed the scrape the bottom valance - luckily under the door - and it has about four soft-looking dents in it. Heaven only knows what the neighbours must have thought about all the noise I made! Anyway, I have to tell him - it's not the sort of damage that I can hide and pretend innocence over! I just know he'll say 'I managed to drive 2,800 miles through Europe in that car and you damage it on the drive!' so - wish me luck!
I'm delighted that Alan Johnston has been released and I admire the dignified and professional way he appeared on that worrying video last week. I only pray now that Madeleine will soon be found. I think about her every day and don't know how her parents are coping.
CRAZYCHIK - I love to read in bed but DH moans about the light (even though he can happily fall asleep on the sofa with three lamps on and the TV blaring!). I invested in something called a lightwedge which sits between the pages and lights up the page you are reading but I have to make sure he's sound asleep and facing away from me before using it!
I'm so glad your own service for your FIL went well - I'm sure he was there in spirit.

    THRIFTMONSTER - Happy holiday!

I have been looking through Hillbilly Housewife and, well......I don't know what to say! I have printed off a couple of her recipes and I must confess, I always wear an apron because I'm a messy cook, but, what planet is she on?

I have prepped everything for dinner tonight which will be Lemon Chicken, salad and left-over potatoes from yesterday and some sliced melon for pudding. I've done two loads of washing and it still hasn't rained today so that is on the line. The sky is a real mix of black and blue with the occasional wave from the sun - I'm sure it will rain later.

I'm going to catch up on some paperwork now so see you all later.

  • Afternoon everyone

Well I'm home from work, the gas man is downstairs fixing my boiler - can't wait for him to go then I can whizz through the house making it all nice and sparkly :D

I must say it feels really strange being at home at this time of day, especially without DD.

Well I'm going to read some more threads and hope the gas man hurries up ;)

Morning all - long time no see

(for all the newbies, I'm an 'old' - (as in how long I've been here, not age :rotfl:) Old Styler, who hasn't been around much :D)

Just had to pop in and send my hugs and thoughts to you JackieO. I know you are a strong lady and if anyone is going to "whoop it's !!!" then it's you :D

As for me - things aren't good here. Still haven't sold the house and life is generally carp atm. However, I shall come through it - when I get my own house :j

Haven't kept up to date with what's going on with you all so hugs to all.

  • Welcome back Ticklemouse - I've missed your posts (sorry things aren't going great atm - but things can only get better :D ).

Gasman has just left - new gas valve and new pump fitted (god knows how much that would have cost  - thankfully it's all covered on our insurance :D )

Nice to see you back ticklemouse!! Sorry things aren't going great - hope it all sorts out soon.

I'm about 3/4 way through the kitchen, needed to stop for some lunch though. It's amazing the muck that builds up - I'm half tempted never to cook in there again so that it stays clean - but should really just kick myself into gear to clean it properly more often.

Right - back to the stardrops and microfibre cloths - 3 cupboards and the fridge and freezer to do - then the floor - but will leave that until kids are in bed tonight.

:hello: Welcome 'home' Nix and TM :):):)

TM - I know things will fall into place eventually. Stay focused.

mioliere - ouchie, sorry to read about your car. When dh gets home, sit him down with a lovely slab of cake, maybe a shot of whiskey to wash it down with and then ... scarper!!!! I'm sure he'll be understanding.

BR - Er ... yuppers, I think eating too much HM bread could potentially give you a waistline like Vegas ... but I think his is more down to liquid refreshments from working the clubs ;):D:D:D

The school coffee morning was a real hoot :j :j No charge for teas, coffees or grub - just a donation towards Leukemia (sp?) which I was more than happy to give to (and dh was determined to match me £ for £ - macho thing ;) ) Well impressed with the buffet, some of those children can cook up some wonderful cakes! No convinced on the authenticity of the foods though, but such a lovely thing to do :D D13yo's 'new' Food Tech teacher is a refreshing change from sour grape who used to teach him and she came over to introduce herself and spoke highly of him, his ideas and his endeavours :o As I said at the time when Ms Sour Grape shunted him sideways ... if he does well in the new class, it'll reflect far more on *her* then him. :D I was right, he's thriving

Electrics now done and a Man-who-can came to assess the job of the outside paintwork - luckily dh was still here and he did the tour and will know the estimate. He can dig deeeeeeeeeep

Still stuffed from the diner experience so I'm going to have a go at a recipe catznine posted in recent times - spaghetti with brocolli and garlic breadcrumbs - it's calling to me :D

Mrs Ticklemouse: hello, welcome back! I was asking about you just yesterday I think. I;m so pleased to see you (and your avatar) back on this thread. Sorry to hear that things still aren't sorted out for, I can imagine how hard it is with the house still not being sold.
