OS Daily Thread 4/7/07

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Weds 7th july. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

well I had a bad night but it's the first one for a while
spent some of yesterday at the hospital with ds2 who had his foot stood on akwardly whilst playing football he's cracked a bone in it but they have strapped him up and he's not in to much pain with it and I've made arrangments with school to help him
I have washing to do today and I'm hoping it will stay dry so I can get it on the line
may do some of the dreaded ironing to

I don't post very often these days, OS ways still maintained but life seems to keep getting in the way, however I do try to read the thread daily.

i would like to say a big thankyou to you all for all your kind words to me yesterday, can you believe that the school did not ring me back ! i am at work this morning then i have a funeral to go to of one of the lovely men that i used to take care of, so im going to be out of the house for most of the day. im going to leave a not so nice message on the heads answerphone as i think its disgusting that they havent contacted me back.
she said that she felt she coped well yesterday until lunchtime.. when a fight broke out in the playground and kids being kids everyone rushed to see it .. which sent her into a panic, she had to sit in the office for the rest of the afternoon.. they got her to make a birthday card !!!!!!

it will be a sad funeral and there will be lots of us carers there as he was very popular, two of us have been asked to go back to the wake but i have said no as i feel that it should just be family, plus i need to get back for school. i have arranged to see the wife for lunch next week , im going to take her round a nice dinner. i will stay in touch with her.

giant yorkshire pud for dinner which i will fill with roast chicken, veg and lashings of gravy. i have just made a raspberry jelly for pud.

good morning everyone and a special hello to JackieO after your bad news yesterday. I'm sure everyone here will want to rally round to support you through the next few months.


today is last day at work for me before our trip to florida. I bought the theme park tickets last night and other than changing some dollars I think we are more or less ready but nothing is packed. not taking much - the villa has a washer/dryer.

kids prize giving tonight. DS won the prize for three out of his five subjects!

other than that will spend day cleaning.

ICECUBEQUEEN - saw your post re Southampton on Saturday! I live in a village just outside and I NEVER go to Southampton - it's ALWAYS busy!
TAPLADY - congrats on DS's job.

Well, had another bad night's sleep despite the lavender - must be doing something wrong! Took me ages getting to sleep, then I kept waking up - hope I get time for a snooze later!
Weather looks promising at the moment so I might get some washing out on the line. I did loads of ironing yesterday (yes, at last!)
Going to have another cuppa then grab a shower. Will pop back in later. Hope you all have a good morning.

I cooked a butterbean, carrot, leek & cheese bake, topped it with sliced cooked potato yesterday for the lodger & served it with broccoli. Tonight I'm doing a lentil & mushroom pilaff. I don't think she's impressed, I think she'd rather have quorn burgers & Linda Macartney ready meals!
I've nearly finished altering another set of curtains & have got another set to do next week, it seems news travels fast.
I've made a few pounds on ebay & will list some more stuff tonight.

Lots to do today, my sister visiting ( we are ok now!) for a couple of hours, need to get abit of food shopping in, go post office and sit and wait for ds1 return from big school visit.

Well believe it or not the sun is actually shining today We had huge thunder storms yesterday and more predicted today so I guess the TD will be working overtime :rolleyes:

Only working a half day today as I've got the boiler man coming round to fix my boiler (I am soooo glad I took out cover so it won't cost me a thing :j ).

Ironed everyones clothes last night, so all I need to do this morning is make DD's packed lunch, oh and wash and dry her hair - need to get cracking in a mo.

Tea tonight will be ranchero pie, something quick as DD has Brownies this evening, whilst she's there I'm going to have a go at making Twink's famous hobnobs

Amie - don't give up with the school - they need to listen to you

Taplady - great news re DS's job :T

Morning All

Wet and miserable here today as forcasted. Feeling quite low and pretty sure the weather is much to blame for it. Forcast seems to be good for tom and fri so fingers crossed.

Had a bad day yesterday, had DS at home because his hayfever caused an eye infection. I needed to do loads of online stuff for the business but wireless network kept crashing I think due to atmospherics so today is catch up day. Loads of paperwork and laundry. Need to find something for dinner tonight also as menu plan seems to have gone out of the window this week.

House looks ok though so no housework today. Need to get some party food for DD has she is having some friends over Saturday for a karaoke party - was going to hire one but ended up buying one on ebay. It is lots of fun just hoping the dics I ordered come today otherwise they will have 5 songs to sing! Think will try and do the shopping online. Apart from the school run will be staying in today looking at the weather.
