Sly Dog's right Quidco will give you some money back. I also know a chap who works for one of the largest healthcare specialising insurance brokers in the UK and will advise you the best policy for you (i.e. make it as cheap as possible if thats what you want) and more importantly give you 30% of your annual premium cashback which should soften the blow of the first years premiums.

Can't post his details on here because of the anti advertising rules etc. But my email is surfer.spartacus@yahoo.co.uk if you want me to email his details.

Its now just laughable!!

I think surfer.sparticus@yahoo.co.uk is also after double glazing quotes - so on his behalf, get him registered for an email blitz.

Well that's disappointing :(

I got my renewal today and it's gone up by £68 a year! That's assuming I get platinum, so next year I'll be paying £13.80 a month for gym membership. FYI I had no claims either. Thank god for the other rewards.

What increases has everyone else seen for their renewals?
Yes, I was disappointed with my renewal premium too, which I received earlier this week. Up from £5.26pm (+£25 for gym as I go to the posh London City branch of Cannons) to £9.10pm, which I make a 73% increase :(

Still cheaper than the alternatives, so I'm not packing it in just yet, but next year I may reconsider, depending on how much I'm using the gym at the time and how much I consider the rewards to be worth.

I suppose my 11% increase pales into comparison!

If you're a platinum member it doesn't matter too much since the price you pay is the difference in premiums. So it can be £1,000 as long as last years was £930. However it does make things unattractive to people who are bronze. It's still cheaper than the alternatives but the more they cut into it, the less attractive it becomes especially for people that'd rather drop the whole thing than pay £20 a month to go to a gym.

Well, in terms of my base premium it is an increase of 18%. My base premium increase last year (from Year 1 into Year 2) was 11%.

Because the increase is the only thing you actually pay for, as a Platinum member, any change in the volume of the increase is huge proportionally.

If I remain Platinum and it increases next year by 10% rather than 18%, the actual amount I'd pay monthly (not including gym) would DROP from £9.10 to £6.03, because the amount of the increase has been smaller.

I'd be interested to know what sort of increases other people have had (on their base premium) this year.

Ah, I thought you meant that your base premium had gone up 75%! Thanks for clearing that up

Year Two: £494 [+6.5%]
Year Three: £561 [+13.6%]

Male, 30 at year three renewal, no claims or history. Wifey's has done the following, same age no claims or history:

Year One: £488
Year Two: £541 [+11%]
Year Three: £615 [+13.7%]

We've both been platinum at renewal time.

• My hubby was paying £4.71 per month after a few years at platinum. He had a few claims this year due to some surgery he needed urgently and now his premiums have gone up to £73!!!!!

I know it can't be helped and it's due to the claim but if we get to platinum again next year and then he has no claims what sort of price can we expect his renewal to be? Do claims only count in the renewal year or is it going to be high forever?

It's a fairly simple arithmetical calculation, shelvis :) - the only variable is what percentage they will choose to put the premium up by next year, and I don't think the percentage increase would be adversely affected by a claim in a previous year (somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure).

Because the platinum discount is based on the unclaimed remains of the base premium, you should find it goes right back down again next year.

Anyone know what the cost of a replacement fitbug is, one that I got as a pru customer. Seems I have lost one and want to get it replaced?
