Pruhealth gym loophole Article Discussion

Need a bit of help please...
I've been looking into pru health as I want cheaper gym membership, having health insurance is a bonus.
I've been quoted £74.03 on the core plan for myself (29 female non-smoker) and my husband (25 male smoker).
Once we achieve silver vitality status, will the monthly payments go down for membership to pru health and Virgin or will I be paying £74.03 a month for 12 months?
Thanks

Your basic payments will remain the same for 12 months - it is only the gym membership that will drop in price as your status improves.
Then in the second year of your policy, assuming you have reached Platinum in the first year, your basic payments will reduce to next to nothing assuming you have not made any claims.
Have a look back through this thread where it is explained in detail how this worksOperation Get in Shape

Start from the start and it will make sense and there is no or little arguing at the start0

Actually I think I have explained it in detail (and in line with the current pricing structure) in another thread - let me see if I can find you a link
(dacouch - don't forget that when this thread started the gym pricing was different, which may be confusing for a new reader. I realise the change to the pricing structure makes no difference to Kerstey's question, but even so...)Operation Get in Shape

Thanks guys!!
If the both of us take out the pru health policy and I join the virgin active gym, will my husband have to join the gym at the same time, or can we wait until we get to platinum so when he joins, his gym membership will be the same as mine, at the platinum rate?0 -
I don't know much about joint policies but I'm sure you can wait until you're Platinum before signing up your husband. The only thing is, it might take you longer to get to Platinum if only one of you is building up gym points (though of course there are many other ways to get points).
I'm sure somebody with more experience of joint policies will be able to advise on whether any of the points categories have personal limits, or whether you on your own can build up gym points up to the joint policy limit... if you see what I mean.Operation Get in Shape

Once again, thank you!
Does anyone know whether Virgin Active do guest passes?0 -
Not a clue, I'm afraid - I'm with Cannons/Nuffield...
