I set up a Lose 10% of body weight goal.
When I felt I had achieved that, I booked a Fitness Assessment (having previously set up a goal to compete a Fitness Assessment). This confirmed that I have lost more than 10% since my last Fitness Assessment.
PruHealth are now saying that I can't have my 50 points for losing the weight, as I should have set up the goal, booked a Fitness Assessment before I started losing weight and then booked a further Fitness Assessment within the 90 (?) day goal period to show that I have lost the required amount of weight.
Needless to say, I am raising a complaint about them not telling me these were the rules when I set up this goal.0 -
Are the people saying its a glitch in the system having bonus points after your 1st fitness assessment of the year are correct? I had the 2nd of my fitness assessments of last years on 20th February, my new policy started on 16th March and I has my 1st fitness test on 26th August which makes them 6 months apart and I have been given bonus points for these. The rules on the points guide only say they are awarded every 6 months not once a year. It doesn't matter if they have made a mistake and the points are revoked as I will easily make it to platinum anyway I am just curious.
Also I read that pruprotect cusotmers are having the cineworld prices go up at the end of this month http://www.pruprotect.co.uk/part_cine.htm... it says on the page it does say that it won't affect policy holders who also have pruhealth policies but does anyone know if pruhealth members can expect an increase in the near future as mines due for renewal in October.0 -

HI
Anyone just received a letter from Pru ref changes to vitality programme. I am really confused as it seems family membership is no going to be classed as individuals. BUT it also said subsidised gym membership will be 25% of the current cost? Its not clear at all, as I am at platinum, does that mean I now have to pay? What about carried over amount as we can carry over 10% in first year?
Any ideas?

Yes unfortunately i do. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but:
2010 Pruhealth changes: These will apply to your renewal after 1/1/10. i.e. my renewal date is not until the 11/10/10 so the changes will not come into effect until 11/10/10
Pruhealth major changes on route and its not good i'm afraid for individual, platinum and gym members i'm afraid.
I attended a Pruhealth seminar for health insurance brokers last week and for renewals after January 2010, there are many [STRIKE]bombshells[/STRIKE] changes taking place including:
Gym membership will no longer be free/ridiculously cheap. From now on it is a straight 25% off for everyone whatever level you are.
They will be scrapping the 100% of this years premium off next years for platinum members. Instead they will be giving you 35% off for AND 25% Cashback of your unclaimed premiums. i.e if my base premium is £50 monthly i get 35% off for getting to platinum then 25% cashback (providing i haven't claimed).
You will need 2400 points to get to platinum, 1600 to Gold and 800 to Silver.
10% rollover poits for everyone (no longer 25% etc).
We still get alot of the other perks i.e. Champneys for £35 per night including all three meals and a complimentary massage, Cineworld, 40% off Mark Warner holidays, Eurostar tickets £10,
However health screenings we will no longer get for £25 (retail £450 ish) they will be half price instead.
My advice would be to enjoy and take full advantage of the perks while you can (until your renewal in 2010) and then see if its still worth it to you after your 2010 renewal. I'm hoping they may see the error of their ways and reverse or part reverse their decisions.
As a Pruhealth member (member of LA Fitness) and health insurance specialising broker who has set up many Pruhealth and Pruprotect policies it's a double compounded whammy for me.
I do not know many of the finer points but have a meeting set up with Pruhealth next week 14th October so will post on here as soon as i've come out of that meeting.
Meanwhile I'll see if i can get anything in writting and then post a link to it on this forum if possible. I'd be interested in seeing Scott's letter.
For Protect members the changes come in across the board on 1st November 2009.I am a independent health insurance specialising insurance broker. Anything posted on here should not be considered advice and is for discussion purposes only.0 -
Thanks for the info silver_surfer.
My renewal date will be prior to the 1/10/10 (just renewed in September) - will the current deal with discounted insurance and £8 gym inside M25 for platinum still apply for my next renewal?Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0 -
silver_surfer said that it applies to all renewals after 01/01/10, not 01/10/10.
Shame, cos my policy renews on 29/09 :rolleyes:Operation Get in Shape

Yes bargains right if your renewal date is September and you have just renewed the changes will not come into effect for you until September 2010.
People renewing in January 2010 will be first affected by the changes.
So enjoy the perks whilst you can.I am a independent health insurance specialising insurance broker. Anything posted on here should not be considered advice and is for discussion purposes only.0 -
My renewal is 21/09/10, so looks like the gym membership and platinum discounts won't be worth it after that. I get private health through work with zero excess and up to 50% subsidy of gym membership (both taxable benefits) but even that will be cheaper than ~50% off PruHealth premium and 25% of gym membership.
Would rather keep paying <£14 for gym and pruhealth, but looks like I won't be renewing based on those prices from 1st October next year.Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0
