  • Just wanted to let people know, I also purchased an Ovivo mobile sim and actually received it yesterday morning...only really bought for my dad who is in the country shortly so thought it would be effect for him to use in his iPhone whilst here...however that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, but as I paid for the item via paypal (credit card) I have raised a claim in the resolution centre...the website said the seller has 10 days to respond which I thought was a bit crazy as they obviously wont be doing so having gone under...so wanted some clarification from Paypal direct on this.

Called up, entered my 6 digit code and got through to an agent...he confirmed that my dilute is recorded and if not before, if the seller hasn't automatically refunded me by the 11th day...ie the 30th of this month, then I will will get a full refund from Paypal, guaranteed...so for anyone who has paid via paypal raise a dispute asap and maybe put in a freephone call just to clarify for your own piece of mind. Paypal can be annoying at times but when they work, they are a godsend...that being said, I will post back at the start of April to let you know how I got on

Bit gutted in honesty as was going to switch to them myself when my vodafone contract runs out in August but such is life...

Just hope Sambamobile doesn't go the same way now
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Well its worked in my case so it's worth letting people know about it. In fact if you make enough fuss they might even refund as a gesture of good will.

All I can say is I have got my money back.

When did you apply? Once i posted i almost edited it to say something like if you want to give it a go then do it now.

This was always on the cards especially as they have been on a promotion push in the last few months. Hope Martin is getting more information on this as he has been advising people to get the sim.

    That's reassuring, thanks!
Did they come via text or email?

Well I must be really unlucky.

    I should port in TODAY.

I contacted them yesterday morning with my pac code from my previous provider.
They said I would port in today.
My old provider sim is now invalid and my ovivo sim is still on the ovivo number.

I'm just hoping it switches some time today and I get my pac code from ovivo.

Total waste of time, didn't even get 1 hour of service.
  • MSE's advert has already been removed from Cheap Mobile page but still there on Google cache. MSE was paid to promote, intention in advertising the deal was to make money. Was it in his email too?

Anyone taking out the deal via MSE was using a commercial service and has consumer rights to make a complaint to MSE if you feel you were missold, then if not satisfied Trading Standards and Advertising Standards Authority.

On Twitter Martin Lewis wants customers to make a claim by chargeback. That just adds costs to doing business that are passed on to us all. Important to hold Lewis to account if you bought the deal off him otherwise there is nothing to stop MSE advertising too good to be true deals time and again.

For the record MSE's advertisement on its mobile phone deal page said:

    Cheap Sim-only deals

If you're happy with your mobile handset, it's well worth looking at Sim-only deals as a cheaper alternative. Here are our top picks:

Ovivo 300 mins, 300 texts, 500MB: £20 Sim, no monthly fee*Good if you don't mind internet ads. Plus 'free' cinema ticket

    ovivo-logo-small.jpg
We've never seen owt like this. This is a unique deal. Pay a one-off £20 for an Ovivo* Sim (via Vodafone's network), then EVERY month you get 300 minutes, 300 texts and 500MB data. Plus you get a one-off £15 credit towards charges above your allowance, and until Thu 20 Mar you'll also get a 'free' standard Cineworld ticket. It's available for standard, micro and nano Sims.
    What's the catch?
It's simple. When you use the internet through Ovivo, you'll need to watch adverts. They pop up about every five minutes. After five seconds, you can skip the ad and continue browsing. If you don’t use the web on your phone, or if you're using apps, there’s no advertising. How much is it outside inclusive allowances?
Calls to UK landlines and mobiles are 8p/min. Texts to UK mobiles are 5p. Data costs are relatively high at 16p/MB. Prices are typically 10-15p/MB with other providers.
    Anything to watch out for?
Be aware the terms state the deal could end or change without notice. Ovivo's a new company and this is an experimental deal, so there's little protection if things go wrong or if it goes bust.

Some MoneySavers have complained about slow data speeds and patchy network coverage.
How do I get the Cineworld ticket?
A code will be emailed in up to three weeks, on a Friday. Enter the code and your details on this form by 11.59pm on the Thursday after you get the email. Cineworld will then email a code within 24 hours, which you can exchange online for one adult ticket. Redeem it by 11 Jul 2014.
You can’t use it to for 3D, IMAX, D-Box, alternative content, deluxe, VIP or premieres. See full terms on Ovivo's site.
