They are not legally allowed to sell on your personal data. Their privacy policy made this clear - they could only use it for their own purposes.

However I got my first and only junk call on my mobile a few days ago...

If our numbers stay open for incoming calls while we are waiting a few days for our PACs it isn't too serious, but what it takes a month?

What a shame they couldn't have upped the charges to £5 per month? Some people would have left but it would have been gradual and orderly and perhaps it might have been enough to keep them going for longer?

I never understood why they didn't remove the ads from their paid plans. This meant (if I'd ever got my sims) that I would be unlikely to upgrade to a paid plan if I was still going to be subject to advertising. I feel that this was the mail downfall with their offering.

Looks like they were pretty successful at getting people on the free plan but how many upgraded? Did anyone here?

Also, I can't see Vodafone being the cheapest network for MVNOs as so few use them.

Ovivo were always going to go bust, there's no surprise there.

The issue is the way it has been handled. Accepting orders right up until they go under is shameful. Their phones are dead, Twitter and Facebook accounts shut down, emails bouncing back. And then they just shut down. No notice at all. Absolutely scandalous.

This is all very Crown Currency Exchange, Martin Lewis promotes a company with an unsustainable business model, it goes bust losing his loyal followers money. At least it was only £20 this time.

Good point, they will have known this was due to happen. Looks like a clear case of grabbing as much user info as they could before pulling the plug
  • DD had ovivo for 12 m no probs so I joined her. Ordered sim 8/3/14 activated 16/3/14 ported over my O2 number yesterday, which still had 1m paid to go on, so basically got 1d for £20! Well p..ed off as no mobile service until I get another sim.
Ordered talk talk. And plan to call credit card company in morning.

I think it was a good idea but nobody was ever going to click on the ads realistically. I got 6 months for my £10 initial payment so I got pretty amazing value. I moved to 3 at Christmas for the fast data. I really hope Ovivo can return in some way to keep the other operators on their toes :-)
