Thank you for your reply.
But I understood that Ovivo were NOT a new supplier, as we have people here gloating over having had two or more years of service.
I'm delighted for them - but paying £20.00 for a three-minute phone call following activation of SIM this afternoon seems a little expensive to me.
And surely accepting money for goods which the company knew would not function within the week constitutes fraud?
I feel sorry for people in your situation who didn't get much use from the service in return for the activation fee
MSE will be posting guidance for Ovivo customers in due course. In the meantime there is some info here:

Purchased a couple of sim cards from them roughly three weeks ago with the normal bank card. Is that anyway to have the money back? I've only used them for less than 2 weeks time and ported some numbers to them 4 days ago........0

I agree that what has happened is awful, but was only saying what ML said in original post, it was the reason I didn't buy sim and went with O2.0 -

Both my son and I were on this network. I joined in December and got my son on in January.
I have managed to get most of my money back through a chargeback after a bit of argy bargy with my credit card company. Unfortunately I've lost the money paid for son's phone as I used Paypal funds.
So both payments were paid through Paypal.
My CC/Co tried it on because I used Paypal. If you paid with Paypal funds you are out of luck and/or are over 45 days.
"If the Paypal Dispute process fails you may be able to make a claim through the Chargeback scheme, as long as you can show that you used your card to buy the disputed goods through PayPal".
This link provides thorough information.

So now we will wait and see if we get the PAC.
I wonder what the odds are of Dariush Zand setting up yet another Ltd Co?0 -

Chargeback is good for debit cards too.

Edit: Forgot to mention this phone number works but no one is answering.

Chargback probably wont work in this case. When you claim back via a credit card its a kind of insurance that pays you. In other words the CC company refunds you then tries to chase from the company you are claiming against. If they fail, they take the loss. A chargeback is not like that. Wih a chargeback your bank tries to claim directly from the companies bank. If there is no money in the account the chargeback will fail.
In this case Ovivios bank accounts will be either empty or frozen so i dont see any milage in making a chargeback claim.0 -

Well its worked in my case so it's worth letting people know about it. In fact if you make enough fuss they might even refund as a gesture of good will.
All I can say is I have got my money back.0 -
I purchased an Ovivo SIM card on the 18th for my daughter using Nationwide credit card. (not via paypal)
I've just spoken to Nationwide credit card customer services and was put through to disputes team and they say claim has to be in writing and have to wait (5 - 7 days) for them to send me a form. Suggested some proof of Ovivo going bust, such as printout of website should be obtained and returned with completed form.0
