Why so many beards?

it makes younger men look older
soon as they shave they lose 20 years of their age on their face,
facial hair = look 10 years older = more !!!!!es.... <--- kids logic0 -
I stopped shaving in my last year of school (heck, I was rebellious) and I had what we used to call a 'full set' through my 20s, 30s and 40s. Wife No 1 liked it (I think) and wife No 2 loved it to bits. It was dark and quite dense, although I always kept it trimmed. If I ever let it get long and bushy it used to itch like mad. But I liked it. It was 'me'.
One day, when I was about 50, I had a study day off work. Around 2 pm, I got bored and went to the bathroom and shaved it off. My poor wife burst into tears and wouldn't speak to me for 48 hours, and that is not an exaggeration. I kept it off until she had calmed down a bit (I think it was about 6 months), then I grew it back. This time, it's a goatee, a patch covering tash and chin. I liked being clean-shaven (I actually like the act and ritual of shaving) but people told me I looked like an East-European people-trafficker, so the goatee is the ideal compromise. I really like it, and I doubt if I will ever shave it off again.
'Romance'-wise, I've had no complaints

My OH has a beard because he can't be bothered to shave daily.
He then shaves it off every few weeks and looks about 15 years younger and is so much more kissable

Some beards can look attractive but I hate full face beards like the one Shane Lynch is currently sporting
