Sit down and explain to DS what is going on and that daddy didn't leave any money and would he be upset if he had to wait until your first payday to have his game rather than get into a deal with cash converters, they are as bad as payday lenders in my eyes.
Your son will probably surprise you if you just talk to him xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I agree with Butterfly Brain. You really should hang onto your mobile. If your son's school need to contact you when you are out/at work etc then they need a mobile number.
Talk to your son. It sounds like you have *some* presents for him..so he isn't going to get nothing at all. He will be fine on a lot less than you think, and then have a 'mummy go paid' present for him of the ds game he wants. He is old enough to understand stuff (I have an 8 year old daughter, and she understands that she can't have everything exactly when she wants it.)
Give him the presents you already have for him, give him your time…have a duvet day as a treat. Do nothing other than watch dvds with him ALL day. No 'mummy is just going to hoover' or 'mummy needs to clean the bathroom'…just you and him, a den on the sofa and some dvds of his choosing. He will love it.PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

HI everyone im trying to think of some ideas and try and get some stuff to make a arts hamper he loves painting and making things
I didnt manage to get my phone in cash convertors as i didnt take the right charger am meant to be going back there today with it
I thought about making some vouchers like me and him go the cinema, going to the park ,art day with mum etc what do you all think to that xx0 -
We had already bought him a scooter, some dvds and moshis
so its niot like he will have nthing but everything hes witnessed and been through i wanted to make it nice for him .he wanted a party but i dont have the food to do one for him just yet xx0 -
One of my favourite presents when I was a child, was what my parents called a collage box. It contained gummed paper squares and shapes, tubes of glitter, sugar paper, crayons, felt squares, little scissors etc.
It sounds like he has enough presents. Don't worry about getting him more to make up for the past. Just spend time with him. The weather's getting nice, so trips to the park, making dens in the house/garden using sheets and blankets, a garden/park wildlife hunt to see what animals and insects you can find would all be fun things to do that don't cost anything.
Don't hock your mobile, you need it.0 -
NATALIEDEE:
Please don't think that lots of presents are the answer to what your little boy has gone through. If this means taking your phone to somewhere like cash converters, then that can't be right. Children are resilient and they want mummy rather than 'things' even those who pester know this deep down. Time with you more relaxed will give him a lovely day. A scooter sounds great and a couple of other presents to open too. That's enough for presents. What about the duvet/DVD day that someone suggested? You can watch his new DVDs together, and the vouchers for time with you that you have said you are thinking about? Arts and Crafts hamper sounds great if you can manage that. Anything else is a bonus. Have you found out about the cake that gayle1 mentions? I think I saw something about this on another thread - could have been hers. I know it must be very overwhelming for you. Your doing really well and have put your little boy first by getting out of an abusive relationship with no family support.
Please don't go down the payday lender/loans route. It's probably a blessing that you have been refused so far, they really are evil.
YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS. Keep coming on here for the support.
You got to the food bank when you thought you couldn't. You will do so much more than you thought you would in time.
Give us an up date of what food you have in now and someone cleverer than me can give you some more ideas. Also, they may be able to suggest a nice birthday tea, even if it's just the two of you with those DVDs. Or maybe half and half with scooter in the park and picnic at some point in the day. Hope all this makes sense, is encouraging and helps.

Hi Nataliedee, have you had a look on your local Freecycle on facebook? if you pop a wanted post on for something for your son or for other items you need more than likely people will offer you items, and then when you are back on your feet you can offer items to other people who need a little help
Big hugs (because if we admit it we could all do with one from time to time)
