  • If you have any sellable DVDs, console games, digital cameras, old mobile phones, any techy gadgets then try flogging them at Cex stores. You have to take some kind of ID to set up an account with them. If you take the offer as a store credit (it's a higher offer than cash only) you might be able to get a nice present for your son.

Cash Generator also pay for new/nearly new items like good watches, fishing gear, electricals for the home and kitchen (like unused health grills etc) so if the ex has decided to leave any of his stuff at your home...

    Good luck OP :)

Bloody well done you! I know that will have taken a lot….but just sometimes the thinking about doing something is worse than the actual doing, so I am really glad you feel better about it now you've been. Well done, you should be proud of yourself.
Just incase anyone else is reading this thread and is in a similar position to you, how was the food bank? Were the people there nice?

OK, so your son's birthday….I think you'll be surprised at what he will be happy with. All our kids want is love, they don't really care how many boxes they have to open. How old is he? Perhaps we can think up some ways to give him a few extra treats at no cost?

I was embarrased but when i got there they was lovely made me a cuppa had a chat with me it was nice actually to talk to some one lol.If anyone is in a similar possition to me and wont go then i would say just do it its nothing to be scared of and the people are so genuine and kind

My sons birthday is a big worry to me he is 7 and a typical boy loves football, getting dirty and all that lol

Any ideas would be great x

go to cash converters or your local game shop, now the the fancy shop actually called game but your local dvd swap shop type, they do a swap system type arrangement ....say you leave your phone in exchange for a few games and then they add on a fee and you can buy phone back off them for a small fee ask for shop credit not cash when doing this. it will give you a chance to get sorted out with your cash and get your son a pressie

sandwiches juice crisps what do u think?;)
  • I'd personally avoid getting locked into "deals" at Cash Converters type places if it means you risk losing your phone.

If he's into football, could you go on Saturday to watch your local non-league team play? Shouldn't cost much, and if you phone in advance and say he's a Birthday Boy they might let him keep the ball or meet the players or something like that.
