how long do you reallly think the 5% offer will last? be a bummer if it was just a banking ploy to get everyone to switch over to them.0

A bit nervous as have opened TSB classic plus accounts on line for husband and I(2 each) we have received an e-mail/debit cards with account numbers/sort codes, haven't received activation code, Wondering is it safe to go a ahead and deposit money in accounts via online banking.........Had to pick a TSB in England as none here where we live, therefore this account would not be available to go get money out of a local TSB bank, daughter lives local to one we put down(that was the reason we chose it), we visit her often, just worried about losing my money before bank account activation rec'd and able to see my money online. Can't see there will be a problem but.... nervous, want to get £2000 into each account to start making some interest.0

Most likely what it is, but who cares? When the rate is sliced or removed, we remove our money. I very much doubt most people will have their main DDs in the account (If any DDs at all) or done any other kind of switching.0 -

Am in similar situation - opened account last Friday (11th) and was given account number etc immediately. But so far have only had debit card and Pin number in the post, no online banking info yet so can't see/manage the account at all. I'm not paying anything in until then - I like to be able to be sure of everything and I'm not sending £2K into a new account I can't see.
The confirmation email said the internet banking info would be sent within "seven working days", and there have only been 4 complete working days since last Friday, so to be fair they are still within timetable for me, it's just rather frustrating.
With Easter Monday taking another working day out I may not get the login info until Wednesday...
ETA I suppose i could send a test £1 and then dash round to the cash machine to see if it arrives...0 -
Open with £2000 then put £500 in and out once a month on the same day. If you have two plus accounts the £500 can go between them. Skim off the interest if you want to earn interest on it elsewhere.
I've read multiple times that an internal transfer can be used but also found this MSN Money page which saysThe biggest is that it pays 5% interest on balances up to £2,000. And this interest rate isn't for a limited period, it's for good. To earn this, you need to deposit £500 a month from another, non-TSB account, but that is a lower amount than most of its rivals.
There's definitely some confusion on this. Has anyone scanned the T&Cs for definitive answer (assuming they'd cover this point)?0 -

Doesn't say you can't use internal transfers on the T&Cs but we will get the answer on the 1st of May when all those you set up internal transfers in April are due their interest.0 -

MSN Money doesn't write the T&Cs, and yes, people (apart from MSN) have not only scanned but read the T&Cs. It is highly advisable that everyone who confirms that they have read the T&Cs actually does so.0 -

If you applied for internet access (which you need to have to get the 5% interest) when you opened the account, you should have all the information you need to access internat banking
i.e. ID, password, and memorable word.
because you advised TSB of them!
Do you have them and if so have you tried to access internet banking?
What brenda10 referred to was an activation code. You may not have this yet, although for most it arrived before the debit card. This doesn't stop you accessing internet banking, but some parts are restricted e.g. you cannot pay anyone.
But you will see your balance and any transactions0 -

Whilst nothing is guaranteed, reason 1, and to an extent reason 4, of their article on 5 reasons on what makes this account different, tends to address your conspiracy theory0
