I will be having one with my wife and she will be having one with me! I have spoken again to TSB and they state that the joint accounts can be opened on-line. I explained that there must be an issue with the website as I cannot find any facility to open joint accounts. They will get back to me!

They told me that joint accounts can only be opened over the phone or in branch!?

I was also told this. At least you can open over the 'phone with TSB, with Lloyds I was told you have to visit a branch to open their joint account, which is even less convenient.
  • Thanks to Herbalus for your reply re my post above.

If anyone does happen to find out the way to switch off all paper communications (as opposed to just paper statements) please would they be so kind as to post the info on this thread? If I find out myself I will do so.

    Many thx.

How are people planning to make the most of the £2k limit for maximum interest when you need to put £500 a month into the a/c?

Do you open the account with £1,499 then pay your £500 in but then what?

Open with £2000 then put £500 in and out once a month on the same day. If you have two plus accounts the £500 can go between them. Skim off the interest if you want to earn interest on it elsewhere.

I opened my account with £2,000 and I am paying in £500 a month, every month, as otherwise I won't get any interest (I also had to opt for paperless statements, of course). I never leave more than £2,000 in the account. It is very simple.

I plan on using 1K as it's easier.

So as well as being allowed two sole accounts, an individual can have two joint accounts too. (Another difference compared with the Club Lloyds.)

There isn't a way to turn off paper correspondence yet. It is just a condition of the account that WHEN they do offer that option, you need to switch to going paperless for that too.

I have been told this several times by different members of staff, both on the phone and in my branch when dropping off R85s.
