I have just opened the Classic Plus Account online and it is telling me that I have opened a current account and a classic plus account. Is this usual and do I have to use the current account.
nope you need 2 classic accounts, suggest you get on to the phone pronto if you want 2 classic accounts, as no interest is paid on the current account.
  • Hi,

I've just opened one of these TSB Classic accounts for the higher interest.

I know I have to switch off paper statements and have done this.

Now I can't remember where I saw it - somewhere in this thread, in the bumph from TSB or during the application process, but I can remember it saying something about having to switch off all postal communications in order to qualify for the interest (i.e. not only paper statements but all forms of communication).

Am I right about this or am I dreaming? If I am right, how/where does one do this online as I can see no option to do it?

Sorry if I'm dreaming about this... just want to make sure I qualify for the interest...!

You're not dreaming, it is there in the T+Cs, but there is no option for it online so nobody can do it or has done it.

Opened one just now, question is waiting for the paperwork for 7 days from now will mean I'll lose 7 days of interest on £2000? So having known my sort code and a/c no. should I go into the bank and deposit into the account in cash and get a receipt? Or is it advisable to wait it out? What have others done to fund the new account?

Transferred £2000 immediately to each of them using online banking as soon as I knew the sort code and account number.

Or use internet banking to send a FP?
Seven days is £1.53 for a basic rate tax payer. Not the end of the world if you wait.

Anyone Managed to open 2 joint a/cs yet?

    cheers

I was told by TSB yesterday on the phone, that although my wife and I had two individual Classic Plus Accounts we each could also have a Joint Account meaning in total six accounts between us. When I told them that having completed the application form and being unable to add another name at that stage and being rejected, I was told that the facility to do this was at the bottom of the TSB website when completing the application form. I tried again and as I could not find this, I left a message for TSB to ring me back. I am therefore waiting for the call regarding these two joint accounts, one for my wife and the other for me.

So which other two people will you and your wife be having joint accounts with?

I've ended up with three Plus accounts. As soon as the first was accepted I applied for the second online. It created a second profile for me which required a branch visit to get them merged.

While there (last week) they opened another account and told me to disregard the second account that I'd opened online. The advisor said that he would send my details to online openings and ask them to cancel the opening.

Just received an email to say that my current account application has been successful and sure enough it's sitting in my online banking ready to be funded.

I will be having one with my wife and she will be having one with me! I have spoken again to TSB and they state that the joint accounts can be opened on-line. I explained that there must be an issue with the website as I cannot find any facility to open joint accounts. They will get back to me!
