How do I live without him?

On a lighter note, i saw a picture of my ex husband about 12 months ago. I havent seen him for over 20 years. My god how he had aged. He had gained about 5 stone, and had no hair. He was going bald in his 20s, and is as bald as a coot in his mid 40s. You couldnt have punched clay any uglier and i think i had a lucky escape. They say that love is blind. I must have gone down the aisle with my eyes shut.:DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi PLB
I had the "love of my life" about 12 or so years ago. Unfortunately he chose to dump me in order to resume a relationship with someone else. There was a lot more history with her than with me, and ultimately he married her to keep her happy as she had changed her life to be with him. It was awful, absolutely awful for me I was so broken hearted. I went through the torrents of emotion that you are experiencing, and while it took a long time I did get over him. I heard that his marriage ended in divorce - rather than gloat I felt quite sad for him as he chose disaster - he said he felt coerced into marriage. But my message in this is that your feelings will evolve, you will find other things and people to fill your time and provide you with new thoughts and new ideas. As unlikely as it might seem now this pain you are experiencing will go away. Keep finding new things to do and new things to occupy your mind...you deserve to find lasting happiness and if you follow opportunities open to you then you will. Life moves forwards, not backwards...so go with it...0 -

Hey PLB
Just wanted to reiterate what others have said about time being a great healer. I was dumped unceremoniously by my fiance 12 years ago, about 3 months before our wedding day. He had gone off with some married woman he worked with. My world completely fell apart and it took me a long long time to get over him. Two years later I found out that he had married this woman after her divorce came through and even then it upset me.
But 5 years ago I met a lovely diamond geezer, to whom I am now married and we have a perfect little girl and I can't imagine my life without them.
Everything happens for a reason and my life is brilliant now and I have not one single regret now that the first relationship broke down. Quite the opposite, I'm so relieved it did, otherwise I wouldn't have my 2 loved ones.
My advice is to take each day as it comes, don't rush into anything re getting back together etc - make sure that whatever happens is on your terms. And try and eat something. Heartbreak is a great diet, but don't lose too much weight.
Good luck
PP

Take a raincoat - it lashed it down in West Yorkshire today!
However, it wasn't cold and really freshened everything up - I was inside on a training course though...;)The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -

PLB,
Just want to wish you well. I'm sorry I haven't checked through all the posts but from what I've read it seems like you are at a crossroads and as PurplePatch mentioned above, everything happens for a reason. Go out and treat yourself, be good to yourself, you deserve it. Take things a day at a time, don't be hard on yourself, you wouldn't be normal if you didn't feel upset after what you have been through. If you find yourself feeling low call the Samaritans. They helped me through tough times, and I always felt better for talking things through with someone. Things can only get better for you now. Good Luck with the property search in Scotland. Remember there are people who care. All the Best.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
