You've opened a paypal claim, you will get a full refund including the original postage but have to pay the signed for return postage.

Wait for the seller to respond to the case,if they only offer purchase price or don't respond escalate to paypal within 20 days for a decision.
Paypal will give you the address to return the bag.

    Since when?

She's only going to get the cost of the bag back. Plus she's disputing via PayPal, so can't open an eBay case.

eBay and Paypal claims are the same regards the refund. They will both pay the original price plus original postage payment. You never lose the initial postage as a buyer. It is the returns postage which neither eBay and Paypal can force a refund for.

OP, do not close the case. Escalate it as soon as you can and wait for Paypal to tell you to return it. Use a tracked service such as myhermes or CollectPlus and upload the tracking. As soon as the tracking shows attempted delivery, delivery or refusal, ring Paypal and they will close the case and release your money.

Apologies, I didn't find your posts clear about business v private sellers at all.

No worries. Not sure where you got confused though as only business sellers were mentioned. I didn't mention private sellers. Anyway to be clear, I was only talking about business sellers (as, I assume, you were). It's different for private sellers as far as the law goes, although ebay rules are pretty much the same.

I was shocked when the seller came to my house to drop it off bit when I opened it I was even more shocked as it had a load of marks on. I've washed it but a few marks remain including a red mark which I presume is lipstick. What should I do please?

Crazy as it sounds, washing the bag might give you a problem: the seller could refuse a refund on the grounds that you can't return the bag in the same condition as you received it.

I missed this in the OP. This is very much correct and you would not win a case if the seller and CS pick up on this (if you have it in the case).

That may well be, but so can clothing. If the item is not exactly as it was when you received it, the seller may refuse a return *assuming he is a private seller and any ebay case would go against you (if this info was in the case).

I purchased a bag on eBay. Paid for delivery but the seller in fact dropped it off. It was described as "used once but in prefect condition"

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but

Did you receive your postage costs back, as the bag was
    "dropped off" ?
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

Should I ask her for a refund on postage as she dropped it off and didn't send it?
