I know you can't open an ebay case when a Paypal case is open but I missed where it said Paypal claim.
A good seller wouldn't describe a well used bag as "in perfect condition".Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

It's not fair, but that's how it is. I did say I wouldn't normally advise anybody do INR when they have the item - and I've never done it myself - but in this case it's the only way the OP won't lose out. (Except now she's opened a case and messaged the seller so that won't work.)
Ebay couldn't care less if the issue is resolved by a seller offering to only refund the item cost and the buyer accepting it. If you escalate the ebay case then ebay will always refund all original costs (item+postage) upon return. I don't know about Paypal, never opened a case through them, but that's how it is for ebay.
Ebay/Paypal cannot force sellers to pay return postage costs but by law business sellers should.0 -

No, that's not what the law says at all.
Under DSRs sellers must refund postage costs paid to them by the buyer, but as long as their T+C's state that the buyer is responsible for return postage costs its absolutely fine.
I've never had eBay refund any postage costs on the occasions that I've raised an item not as described dispute.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

True. Still, a case is a chance for them to redeem themselves by offering to refund the whole amount.
It's always possible the seller originally made a mistake rather than just being a bad seller - two of the same bag; one used rarely and in excellent condition and the other used often and not so good. Probably not the case but just a thought.0 -

You look at many threads on here and they'll say that business sellers should pay return postage by law. Either way, if they are a business and haven't stated that in the T&Cs then by law they should.
I have always been refunded the entire amount.
You said yourself that under DSRs sellers must refund postage costs paid to them. That is something ebay can enforce too when the case is escalated.0 -
Sellers response was clear. She says it was used so I shouldn't expect it to be clean and free from marks. So I should, in her view not moan. The bag was described as perfect which it clearly isn't.0

Ebay descriptions are there for a reason, to describe the exact condition. Used can vary greatly. Used doesn't mean that it has to be unclean or scratched or marked, plenty of people have used items that are in mint/perfect condition. Why did she state perfect condition if used to her means the opposite (and obviously it's not the case)?
I do wonder what some people are thinking when they selling things...although I get the feeling they're probably not thinking lol.0 -
