Shops closing early and locking the doors!

Too many people leave things to the last minute, then start complaining when they dont get thier way.
when i used to work in retail, on bank holidays when we closed at 6pm, it used to be pretty dead between 5 and 6, with very few customers, then just before 6, you would end up getting 100's of customers rushing in.
The same also happened at 4pm too (many customers assumed we closed at 4 the same as sundays).
It'll be dead then suddenly in the last few minutes the store would just fill up.
The worst was a customer who just carried on with his shopping after closing, was told plenty of times that the tills were closing. Eventually we had to get security to kick him out, when he finally left it was over an hour after the store had closed, he still expected the tills to be open and ready to serve him0 -
Hell, I will only go into a shop within its final hour of trading if it's an emergency and I know I can get straight in and out without causing any inconvenience, and even then, I apologise to the staff for being "that guy."
If you work in a service industry you should expect to offer that level of service for all of the hours that your facility is open. If I wanted to come into your store five minutes before closing and wanted to buy, for example, a PS4 then if you don't have time to serve me your company will be the ones who lose out.
I will happily go in five minutes before closing.0 -

'Your company' AKA the people getting all the profits, not the customer service assistant. It will probably make little difference to the employee, except having to work unpaid.
All the hours your facility is open, AKA not after they are shut. You can be served up until closing, so if you know you want a PS4, say 'please get me a PS4', pay, and leave thats fine, meandering about the shop deciding whether to get a PS4 or XB One until 20 past is not appropriate.0 -

It really doesn't matter if they get all the profits or not, I really couldn't care and I am going to assume they are being paid for being there not doing it for free.
If they don't like it then they should have found some other role than retail.0 -

Are you just here on a wind up?
You have no right to be in the shop after it shuts. I don't care if you are a doctor, a rocket scientist, the bloody prime minister. You cannot be that intelligent as you do not understand shut means shut.
As for 'finding another job'? Well thats so easily done isn't it, you're right, they should just find another job so they don't have to put up with pathetic people who feel it is their right to go where they want regardless of opening times.0 -

I fail to see why you are getting so wound up, I have not said anything about being in a shop after it had shut. my comments are in relation to going into a shop before it closes.
Yes, they could find another job, or they could reenter education and gain some qualifications and then find a better job.0 -
There are plenty of graduates working retail!
I have at no point said anything about anyone being in a shop during opening times. As long as they are out by shutting, then thats fine by me. The problem is that so many people do not respect this, so shops have to curb it by stopping people entering with only a few minutes to go, as people will come in and do their monthly big shop, as many people have described.0 -

Yes you are, you don't understand the definition of closed. It does not mean last in it means stopped trading.0 -

Of course, I have no desire to stay in a shop once it has closed.0
