Make yourself a list of replies. Don't have to be really nasty or swear just give an answer from your list.

I don't want to see you outside pegging washin/washing the car blah.
Answer so don't look then
Why do you hoover on a sat aft
Answer cos the carpet needs it then.
Why decorate on a weekend
Answer because I like to.
Other answers
Who made you into my mother
Why do you care what I do and when
If it really upsets you don't look outside/open your door/listen.
Am sure you can think of more.
Only to be used on a rinse and repeat basis, or the broken record method.
Yes I do have some standard answers like that, or I just smile sweetly at him, and say nothing. Smiling at him and failing to rise to the bait seems to drive him into a frenzy and makes him to slamming back into his own house. Where he stands in the window watching instead lolThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
hahahah! that gave me a laugh, i love that film! The opposite of what you know...is also true0

lol, this is so funny - its definitely his style!! In the summer he stood right by our window with his hose pipe doing just that every single day. He was there for ages, thinking back I wonder if it was even turned on!!!!
He wont be doing that this summer,....he'll have to stand right by our really tall fence lol0 -
Cant park outsde your house? Tough.
Get a driveway.
We're saving for one - but for us it's not the end of the world if we can't park outside our own house. For my old neighbours it would have been distressing.
I don't think a driveway will solve the problem anyhow - it's obvious that we are trying to park on our garden, and we have laid some slabs but the woman in the next street still parks halfway across, blocking our garden to us and also taking up two 'spaces' by parking in the middle of an area where two cars could park without being near the bobbly bits of the path. (there are bobbly bits for blind people to cross - a traffic warden comes around every day to ticket people who park on them).
Sometimes people are just thoughtless and don't care who they inconvenience. She could turn her own sodding garden into a driveway!
Anyway, OP isn't parking inconsiderately, so this isn't really relevant52% tight0 -

Sounds like you dont have a drop kerb:rotfl:0 -

It is dropped, but that's because there's a speed bump. I don't know whether paying for the council to give us permission, etc. would make any difference to the kerb itself. It's glaringly obvious that we are trying to park in our pathetic excuse for a driveway, and therefore she is being a PITA.52% tight0 -

Sounds like you dont have the right to park there and others have the right to park across your front garden0 -
We don't officially have the right to park there yet, no. But we would like to park across our own garden
As it is, whoever gets there first has first dibs, and that's fine.
Anyway, it's not really a problem, it's just annoying. But if I were a frail pensioner, worried about access for visiting medical staff, etc then it might be an issue.52% tight0 -

No gripe to be had at all then....:mad:0 -
I'm not griping about me ... I was talking about my old neighbour. Anyway, this woman has no idea who lives in my house or what needs we might have. Op's neighbour is old, so I do think it's kind of understandable for him to be precious and a bit ridiculous about the space outside his house. Mine was.
I'm not griping about my house. If I actually cared I could put a note on her car, or ask her to shift up. I'm just making the point that some people don't think about where they are parking. Anyway, this isn't relevant to OP, because she's not being inconsiderate to him.52% tight0
