wow didn't think there was so many ways of doing it, DUH! never thought of doing it in a casserole dish with gravy, gonna try that, and as you all seem to agree it is a bit dry on it's own, so thanks0

I love corned beef hash
Onions play havoc with my stomach so we have it with tatties, two poached eggs on top (just cos they're healthier than fried) and loads of ketchup!
I have suggested having it with beans to DH but he turned his nose up - may have to do it just for myself one day0 -
The orginal recipie for Corned beef hash in the Oj household is as follows
1. Corned beef
2. whatever else fits in the panTHE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -
I've never had fried corned beef hash
In Lancashire it tends to be potato, onion, carrot and corned beef. The potato, onion and carrot are all sliced and boiled in water till cooked and then cubed corned beef is added. We call it either Tatty hash or stewed tatas round here though

Yes, that is what I do - give or take the odd diced swede or stock cube..
I think this is one of those recipes that has to be as your Mum always made it
Red cabbage (or pickled purple as my DS would say) is a must here though!

I've always made it with onions, carrots, potatoes, stock cube in water & a good dash of worcester sauce in it. Its got to be served with crusty bread here
There does seem to be a lot of ways of making it, especially here in Manchester. My MIL always puts it into a casserole dish & covers the top with pastry (known as having a crust on it) and my Mum cooks dumplings to go with hers.
I'm not bothered how its served I just love it :j My SIL does a version where she heats up a can of beans & a tin of corned beef, stirring lots so the corned beef breaks up, then puts it in a dish & puts mash with grated cheese in on top of it & browns it under the grill - it's gorgeous :T0 -
a great quick meal consists of
1 tin of beans
1 tin of potatoes - sliced
1 tin of corned beef - chopped
bung it all in a pan and heat up
