  • It also has potatoes and lots of seasoning. Cube some potatoes and boil. Fry them in butter with corned beef (also cubed) season, and serve with a poached egg on top and lots of tommy sauce - well that's what I do :D
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Im the worlds worst cook and just want to check before starting.

Corned beef mashed up, baked beans through it and topped with pots?

    Hi sparky,

We have an earlier thread with lots of variations on making corned beef hash that should help so I'll add your thread to it to keep the replies together.

Sounds fine but I make mine totally differently, one chopped onion, cubed large tin of corned beef, couple of carrots chopped, , fry off the onions till soft then add the corn beef and carrots with a veg stock cube and water, cover and simmer for 30mins. Drain and save the stock for gravy, then I either cover with mash or a pastry top... serve with green beans and gravy...

I am amazed at the number of recipes on here but I always think of corned beef hash as a leftovers dish rather than something to cook from scratch.
Corned beef hash and rissoles are usually Monday meals. Rissoles and bubble and squeak on the day after roast lamb or beef, corned beef hash on the day after chicken or pork.
As with bubble and squeak, my corned beef hash is made in the frying pan with all the leftover potatoes and veggies from Sunday plus the obligatory fried onion.
So, no set recipe, just bung in all the leftovers and a tin of corned beef and fry til crispy on both sides.
  • I've been trying to piece together the "definitive" recipe for CBH, but I suspect that this is one of those dishes, where, if you asked 100 people, you would get 101 recipes.
