Yes, I'm another one that does the 'casserole' method for corned beef hash. But I do like the sound of beans and melted cheese0 -
Definitely fry. The brown crust is the whole point of a hash for me. Best with dripping.0

I have never heard of either way. I boil the potato's then mash them ( butter and milk ) and add some onion, pref spring onion and add the corned beef and mash it up and serve0

we do both depending on what mood we are in ,
if its fried then it's corned beef ,peas onions and potatoes and lashings of brown sauce ,
if done in the oven then the corned beef is mashed up with beans with mashed potato on the top ,
and if there are any leftovers this is then put into pastry to make pasties .0 -
I remember enjoying this as a child but have never made it myself. Anyone know a recipe - ideally one I can leave in the slow cooker?
Thanks0 -

I use my Mum's recipe :-)
I chop up potatoes, onions, carrots and chilled corned beef. Put potatoes in cold water (so water just covers them), and bring to boil. Add carrots and onion plus stock cube, black pepper and lea and perrins. Lastly add chilled chopped corned beef. Leave to simmer until potatoes are soft, and corned beef falling apart0 -
Hi shirleytch,
It's something I've never made so I can't help but there's an existing thread with lots of recipes and advice on making corned beef hash so I'll add your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.
