Welcome Jojo and congrats! Although I agree try the earlier threads too otherwise you may hear birth discussions much earlier than necessary...

Finish work on Tuesday! Two weeks tomorrow until due date!!! No signs yet but think we're pretty prepared, finished birth plan notes this morning and think we have everything packed. Just need to do "nice to haves" like making a iPod playlist and making sure I have books/magazines :-)

Don't really want to finish work though to be honest as I hate waiting around doing nothing!! So I have at least one thing planned to get me out the house each day. Hoping the activity means an early/ on time baby :-)

Let us know how you get on with your niece Clara!!

  • Cats, I still have 4 weeks to go at work (although only 4 working days each!) and like you I'm dreading it because I think I'll become a couch potato. Can you share your activity ideas? Maybe I just need a bit of inspiration...
Although in all honesty, I have no clue how big I'll be then (taking into account that I have two in here...) and if I'll be able to do much!!
  • I've still got 8 weeks in work, but also a bit apprehensive about the pre- baby maternity leave, although hoping for more than the 11 hours my SIL managed before nephew put in an early appearance! One of my jobs is that I'm going to finish all our holiday photo albums, nice and sedentary, but a good job to do. Also going to do some batch cooking for the freezer so we have food when bump is born.

Of course! So it's simple stuff really. I live in a suburb so there's a lot I can walk to but maybe if you live further away you could challenge yourself to park a bit further away or something? Anyway, my plan is to do some of the following, walking at least one way - even though that means leaving a LOT of time as I'm very very slow and get shin splints if I go too fast.

    - Haircut
    - Shopping then batch cooking
    - Maybe a facial or massage
    - Selling some bits on ebay (then walking to post office)
    - Lunch with the 1 or 2 friends who work part time
    - walks with my mum
    - Taking bits to charity shop (that one would be bus there, walk back)
    - Walking to midwife

    Round the house my list so far is;
    - usual chores & cleaning
    - get up to date on printing our digital photos
    - check all banking & bills are taken care of
    - lots of batch cooking and baking
    - sort out kitchen cupboards
    - sort some clutter to give away/put in loft
    - sort box room into a proper office for OH
    - couple of Netflix series ready as a last resort!

I'm sure I'll think of more though :-) my friend told me to just drag jobs out as much as possible and then give yourself permission to just rest afterwards.

Sounds like a good list cats. I'm also lucky that we are walking distance to shops and the village. Not sure whether I'll fancy swimming closer to due date, but I can also walk there if I do. Another job is to prepare for upcoming birthdays- my 2 best friends and OH are in the month after, as is father's day, so I might be prepared with cards/presents for once! Might also sort out curtains for our house as we just have blinds at the moment- I won't make them from scratch, but our windows are funny sizes so I will likely have to shorten standard size ones.

Just been to see our gorgeous little nephew (and his big brother who is still unsure!), excited to meet ours now! I also had a productive morning of writing lists of different things we need and working out what needs buying online and what is for a supermarket/boots trip.

Ah its nice to see what folk have planned, as I've also been trying to think what to do with myself when maternity leave comes, even with it not being for another 10/11 weeks. I can just see it being here before I know it.

The only things I had thought of, was walks, sorting out photos/scrapbooks and making a start of baby's scrapbook, as well as batch cooking. Looking at the lists here, I'll have plenty to keep me occupied.

Ah Penguin, I'm with you, can't wait to meet ours. How is your nephew doing?

Hope those who are on maternity leave soon, enjoy the time before the madness begins :)

It's coming round quick isn't it April? Nephew is doing brilliantly, very chilled out and barely even cries but feeding and gaining weight well. Very different to how his big brother was as a newborn.

The other job for my maternity leave is to get a nursing bra sorted. We have a large M&S 5 mins away so going to investigate what they have in the next few weeks, but wait until at least 37 weeks to measure/buy.

28 week midwife appointment for me this afternoon, all looking good although bump has had a growth spurt- was on the 50th centile last time and is now 90+! Midwife wasn't concerned though, she said it is just about the overall gradient of the line so they'll measure again at 31 weeks. Had all my bloods done again too, and then my arm bled all over the clinic about 5 mins later, oops! And baby kicked midwife really hard while doing the doppler. But otherwise uneventful :/

Hope everyone has had a good Monday :)

Penguin thats another great shout thanks for the reminder! I was told not to buy until baby is here though as your boobs grow loads in the first week or so as your supply fully comes in. So I have some nursing sleep bras which are super comfy just to wear at first then I'll venture out for some later on. ... not sure I can stick to that though but I'd have no idea what size to buy right now!

Penguin another thing to do that completely slipped my mind. I'm going to try and remember to write all this down. Yep can't get over how quickly the past 26 weeks have gone. Glad to hear your nephew is doing well, and all is well with bump :)
