Welcome ellesbelles! You're due after me, although I suspect you'll be earlier (I'm 20th May). That being said it doesn't always happen- I'm a twin and they induced my mum 4 days before her due date so we were pretty much full term.
Thanks for the tips on cotton pads everyone. I use the lidl ones for make up removal and they are super cheap and absalutely fine, so I will stock up
My mum is organising a baby shower for me for the beginning of April- is anyone else having one? I think it will mainly be her friends, my MIL and SIL, and a couple of my childhood friends (who are my best friends now) as it is at her house which is 50 miles from where I live so I'm not going to expect my local friends to travel over. Am hoping it will be pretty laid back.0 -

Thought I would update the list, hope its right.
Thanks for the tips on cotton pads guys, will get that changed on my list.
I still feel like we have heaps to get. All we've really gotten so far is the buggy/car seat and some clothes and nappies. So yeah still a bit to go. There's a local Jack & Jill market at the start of May so will be looking for a second hand crib then. Won't be buying a cot until we get moved/settled. What are people thinking monitor wise? There just seems to be so much choice out there. I kind of wish there was like only 3/4 of everything to choose from. Would make life so much easier.
Penguin that will be nice. Don't think I will be having one. I just don't think I'd find the time, plus my closest friends are all over the place so it's hard to get everyone I would want there organised. You looking forward to it?0 -
I think I am looking forward to it, but wouldn't be devastated if I didn't have one , if that makes sense? Just feel really busy at the moment as we have our antenatal classes this month too so feel like my weekends are rapidly booked up and I just want the house sorted! Also feeling generally quite antisocial at the moment
Don't worry April, we have done hardly any shopping. Got my pram and car seat, plus small things like changing mat, nursing pillow, a night light. I have a few outfits that MIL gave us at Christmas, but will need some more as some were 3-6 months. Not bought any hospital bag bits or things like nappies yet. We are due to have a big boots open on the retail park near us this month, so I am holding off buying a lot as I will just do a big Tesco/ boots/lidl combined trip and stock up so it will be likely end of the month before I buy much more. I think we are getting a cot and chest of drawers from ikea, but we're waiting until we have upstairs finished/ carpetted. A colleague is giving us a moses basket and a steriliser, and another colleague has already given us a travel cot so that will likely go to my mum's house. Monitors is one thing we've not looked at at all- I have tasked OH with it, but I think he has forgotten so I'll remind him.0 -
Hi Guys
I've been a bit missing in action here recently, but things have been fairly quiet. I've decided to move over to this thread now, even if it is a bit scary - obviously not the thread itself; just the fact that we're heading towards the home straight!
So, I'm due 12th June. And hopefully, if the weather is anything like last year, I won't go too far over. I genuinely wouldn't be able to cope :rotfl:
Bump is progressing quickly... and I feel absolutely massive - already  OH has been feeling baby kick for ages and I've been keeping myself entertained by watching my bump moving and kicking. My daughter is very impatient and has only in the past few weeks felt kicking0 -
Morning everyone!
I've been a bit missing in action also! Hope everyone is doing well? Welcome ellesbellesxxx
Any news on your bundle Cats? You must just be days away from due date now?
I just don't know where the time is going! I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and after today will have just Tues/Weds/Thurs left of work to go :T I can't wait to finish and just chill out :cool2:
I have a few things I'd like to get done while I'm off but they aren't major i.e. trying to get old laptop up and running properly, back up photos from pre pregnancy, organise birthday/mothers day presents etc. General things i've been putting off :rotfl:
I packed our hospital bags last weekend so we are all set to go if it were to happen early.
I just need to fill in my antenatal notes for my birth plan but have had a discussion with my hubby and he knows what I want too in the event of going before i get round to it!
Starting to wind down in work too (hence the post this morning :rotfl:) my replacement was causing me a lot of stress in the beginning, but things have settled down a bit now so finding myself with less to do.
I'm having alternative excited/anxious days regarding labour/impending parenthood and my emotions have been a bit all over the place for the last week!!!
How is everyone else feeling? xxx
(Sorry for the long post!)0 -
On hospital bag lists add hair bobbles! After 10 hours of sweaty labour your hair will annoy the life out of you :rotfl:
My baby girl is 9 months now, miss all the crack of this thread. Seems so long ago! Good luck to everyone due over the next wee while.0 -
Hey yes I am 3 days from due date and literally not an inkling of any baby! I've been walking a few miles each day, bouncing on the ball, drinking raspberry leaf tea - you name it - but I think she's very comfy!! I, however, am seriously bored and impatient lol.
Midwife tomorrow so will see what they say but I need to remember she's technically not due yet, maybe she'll be super organised like her mum and arrive bang on time ;-)
Nice to hear from everyone sounds like things are going well! On baby showers I wasn't going to bother as my friends are so spread out but my sister organised me a surprise one and it was actually really lovely.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170 -
Glad to see another twin mum on the thread! For the hospital bag, we probably need to take more of everything... Not only because of the two babies, but since there are some chances of things going slightly askew, we may end up spending a bit longer at hospital...
Thanks for the ideas about what to do with myself once I stop work... Two weeks to go!
Linking that to the hair bobbles, I'm thinking a haircut is definitely in order, particularly since I've read that I'll start losing hair at an increased rate after birth (I'm currently amazed at how little hair comes off on my hairbrush!!)
What I really need to stop doing is to read pregnancy/labour related literature before going to bed. I've done it a couple of nights (last night, after the NCT course) and then I find myself sleeping horribly because I start half-thinking about it continuously and I just toss and turn all night long
My main niggle right now is swollen feet which get scary sometimes and I'm afraid that when I stop working it'll be worse if I'm not active enough...
Oh, and these twins are really pressing against my lungs and I find that I run out of breath just by walking around... Catch 22!0 -
Penguin, now thinking that since we are in the last 3 months or so, might start looking to get some more stuff soon. The OH keeps looking at monitors, whilst I stare blankly at them. So definitely need to start researching.
Sweet I am the same as you, convinced I am getting bigger by the day (well to me and the OH), folk are still surprised when I tell them how far on I am.
Clara hopefully the emotions settle down when you get off work, and are just able to chill. I doubt it, but fingers are crossed.
Toots thanks for the tip, did not think about hair bobbles, will add bobby pins to that too.
Cats hopefully baby will make an appearance soon.
Cuidadosa another one for the itchy/swollen feet, I switched my socks to sport/gym socks and have found they have helped a bit with the swelling.
Got a letter from HR in yesterday, so they are encouraging me to take as much annual leave off before baby, so booked my annual leave from the 8th of May this morning. Only 8 weeks left to go . Starting to see a sign of some of the more uncomfortable pregnancy related symptoms this past week, hopefully they won't stick around too long. Also finding that wearing leggings/jeggings is starting to get uncomfortable, so will nosey in Asda/Tesco this weekend, try and find some nice dresses to wear as the warmer weather starts to make an appearance. Also have someone coming in to view our flat on Monday, so fingers crossed. I keep reminding myself that it only takes 1 person to like it. Looking forward to this weekend and having some down time. I seem to have been hit by absolute tiredness again, think I may have to tell the Brownies that I won't be there every week from now on.
Hope everyone else is keeping well.0
