Quick question, is anyone thinking or has already looked at nurseries? OH and I are both of this Friday in hopes of looking at some nurseries, waiting lists in my area can be quite long and so many people have already asked us if we've started looking. It helps that my sister works in one, so will definitely be seeing hers, but just thought I'd see if anyone else has gone down this route?

    Thanks :)

Hey April - I had to book our place at 20 weeks  felt crazy, but it was the only way to guarantee! It's mainly because we want close to full time (well probably 2 full days and 2 half days). I think if we'd wanted the odd day it would have not been so urgent.

Yeah that's the same here Cats, looking to get either 4/5 full days. Glad its not just me. I seem to be panicking about it, I don't know why. Just another thing to worry about :rotfl:

Good call about nurseries. Any idea about how long the waiting lists are? I'm planning on taking 12 months off and tbh don't know what I'm going to work on return, so it feels really weird to even be thinking about it! I might add investigating them to my list for early mat leave. I definitely have a couple that are my preference due to their locations.

I think it totally depends on area penguin. Ours is very competitive and when I booked in Sept they didn't have full time for March 2018, but then we didn't investigate any others so no idea if they were the same. We won't actually need full time but we've put our name down for that and will confirm in the summer.

If you're flexible I'm sure it's not quite as essential to book so early!

Penguin one of the nurseries im looking at has a waiting list of about 10 months or so. It seems to be quite usual round here. Most people I've spoken to started looking around 20 weeks so I feel I'm a bit late of the mark but needed to wait till we could both get a day off. I have a few visits booked so will see how they go.

    Hi all,

28 week appointment today, had my anti-d which gave me a dead arm for 5 mins but after that its been ok.
I had my first bump measurement (27cm) as haven't seen anyone since 20 week scan. Not due back now till 32 weeks.

I then popped to boots and picked up a few bits for hospital bag :-

Maternity Pads/Breast Pads are on 3 for 2 plus if you have their advantage card and in parenting club you should have an offer of free breast pads so both offers stacked and just paid £1.29 for 20 maternity pads and 36 breast pads.

I had an offer on 25% of mum to be skincare which stacked with savings on cussons mums and me so picked up some 'relax and unwind' bath soak for £2

I also had an offer of 50p off boots nappies - so got a small pack of newborn for £2.05. I now have Boots, Aldi and Pampers nappies to try out!

I also popped into Primark and picked up some 90p flip-flops and some unattractive big knickers (£2 for 4 pack)

Not thought about nurseries yet either, as TH is going to be off till April, I'm guessing we should start ringing places if some of you are experiencing 10 month waiting lists, although no idea what are requirements will be yet

Good work on the shopping vanilla. i got the boots vouchers through the post this morning- did you manage to use the voucher with the 3for2 (so only pay for one)?

Ladies I have seen these nursing bras on amazon- https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010RYWGF0/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_ttl?ie=UTF8&colid=14AKYUEULXQCB&coliid=I3UI2Y8JZB60AN&vs=1 could be worth a go as it looks like the sizings are vague and they get good reviews?

Yes only paid for the one item, although didn't hand my voucher over - i downloaded the boots app on my phone and you can load offers to your advantage card, which saves carrying round vouchers

Thanks for the nursing bra link, 7.99 is worth a shot!
