    Congratulations Kynthia!!
  • Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I'm just lurking on this thread as I'm still a member of the 12-24 weeks for now.

I have a bit of a strange question for you!

I have a few itchy spots on my body over the last dew days (wouldn't say it's a rash). They are starting to drive me nuts! They settled down after a bath last night but itching again this morning. They started mainly over my breasts but have noticed a couple around my neck, chest, back and upper thighs. I first noticed it on Tuesday when I was a bit hot and stressed in work. I've had things like this before, kind of hive like, but a little more concerned about it during pregnancy.

Has anyone else experiences this? I am 23 weeks tomorrow.

I'm not sure if i should be going to see my GP or maybe if I should call the midwife?

    Thanks in advance!

    PS. Congratulations Kynthia xxx

    congratulations Kynthia!!!
  • clarabell, I've definitely had a bit of itching...but not til I was about 30 weeks. It's mainly on my tummy and back and there's no rash, just more itchy than usual! My cousin who is also pregnant had LOTS of itching on her boobs but I didn't get that.

I did mention it to my midwife just to rule out the liver condition so you should definitely say at your next appointment or give them a quick call even if it's just to put your mind at rest. My midwife said there's never a silly question and you are always best to check!

Thanks Pink Petal, I was actually at my midwife yesterday and forgot to ask about it as it wasn't bothering me yesterday morning and had only started on Tuesday.

I phoned and I just explained that I'm not even sure it's pregnancy related and she said I could take some antihistamine for the itch and that was basically it. If it gets any worse I'll go see my GP xx

Had this with a couple of my pregnancys years back on the odd occasion, so bad i had to go to the out of hours surgery as i was covered head to foot in angry itch my own skin off bright red hives.
All they did was take a look, mumble about anti histamines same as they did you and send me on my way with a come back in you get concern or a fever, blah blah.
Only other thing i found that helped alongside the Piriton was a cool flannel on the bad areas did help calm them down.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks AylesburyDuck! The worst is over my chest which unfortunately is always on fire just now! It's driving me nuts but it's not unbareable just yet. Ive had hives pre pregnancy for no apparent reason but because it seemed to be confined to one area I was just a little concerned.

Thanks for easing my mind ladies, I shall see you over here in the next week or so xx
  • Hope the antihistamines make a difference clarabell!

Mancmama, how does it feel to be finished work now?? Amazing I bet!

I have my next midwife appointment on Monday and then the dentist in the afternoon so I'm working from home rather than going back and forth to the office. Then only two days left...and Tuesday is our team Xmas lunch so won't be much work being done that day!
