I bought a few bits in the Black Friday sales, all stuff I wanted anyway. I got a great travel cot from Mothercare which we're going to use downstairs instead of a moses basket (will last longer and will use as a play pen when baby is bigger). It was reduced from £120 to £60 so really happy with that. I also got a Purflo nest (much cheaper alternative to the Sleepyhead), Ergobaby carrier, a projector for the nursery and a swing! That's pretty much everything off the list now.

Got my 36 week check with the midwife tomorrow. It's a bit scary to think that could be our last midwife appointment, as the next one is with our GP. We're still not finished with our kitchen renovations, tradesmen keep letting us down, so I'm really hoping she doesn't make an early appearance!

I managed to get a turquoise maxi cost cabriofix car seat in toys r us for £84.99 in the black Friday promotion (on until 29th). They also do it at that price in the rose colour. Best price I've found for this car seat. :)
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Some good buys in the sales!! Aside from our furniture the only thing I bought was some sheets for the Snuzpod with 20% off!

I really can't wait to finish work now. My hands and feet are really swollen this week. I have shovel hands! Will need to mention it at my midwife appointment on Monday, I know it's fairly common but my fingers have been so swollen it's actually painful. I'm still not sleeping either...last night I got about 2 hours! Roll on 7th December...!!!

Counting down now, work is a real struggle... 2 days to go for me!! Had my Baby Shower last night and it was really lovely, lots of fun games and got some beautiful things, it was quite overwhelming really!

Got a growth scan tomorrow and so will see how the metformin is working and if I have a giant megababy yet or not... really hoping everything is ok as haven't seen him for 4 weeks when he was measuring bang on... eek! My blood sugar numbers have been good so I hope everything is still ok.

Gosh I can't believe mat leave is almost here... it seemed so far away for the first 2 trimesters.

Any news Kynthia or katy ann? Xx

I'm so jealous of you girls finishing work soon! Working from home has had advantages during pregnancy, but been self employed I am having to finish as late as possible and still have over two weeks left! I still haven't had confirmation of my maternity allowance either, apparently they're 5 weeks behind so that's making me feel a bit on edge about finishing work!

Glad to hear your blood sugar levels have been okay Manc! Good luck with the growth can tomorrow! We ended up getting sent up to the hospital yesterday for one after measuring big at the 36 week midwife appt in the morning. She's measuring 6lb 4oz according to the scan which they've said is okay.

I cant believe it's December tomorrow! It seems to have come around so quickly!

Sorry for the radio silence. Grace Mary made her entrance to the world on Saturday morning. 8lb 4oz at 39+5.

Friday evening I was thinking of going to bed when my waters broke. Messy stuff and a bit of a shock as I had no contractions and last time my waters didn't break until near the end of labour. So I called family to stay with my daughter and went to hospital at midnight to be assessed. They said we needed to come back in 24 hours for an induction if labour didn't start spontaneously. So we left at 1.30am and went to bed but before I could fall asleep o started getting pains 5 mins apart at 2.30am. At 3.10 i thought I should get dressed to be ready to go back to hospital, but as soon as I stood up the contractions shortened to ever 2 5 mins but we're only 30 seconds long. I thought they were too short to rush back in but considering my sister had a 2.5 hour labour with her second and I went from 2cm to 9cm in 4 hours last time I decided to head back in. Got to the midwife led unit at the hospital at 4am. The midwife who had sent me home 2.5 hours earlier clearly didn't think I could be in established labour yet and tat these must be early pains, but I knew they werent. By 4.30 they were 1.5 mins apart and so bad I was begging for the gas and air which she didn't want to give me. I was then found to be 7cm and they gave me gas and air snd put me in a lovely big room and ran the birth pool. 6am I was ready to start pushing and was holding my daughter 25 mins later. So a fast and furious labour.

I had delayed cord clamping but it took so long to stop pulsating that I couldn't then have a managed third stage. It wasn't great getting the placenta out and then I bled a bit too much, apparantly a very long or short labour can increase the chance of this. So despite being injected twice I lost over 1.5 pints. Needed lots more gas and air when they tried to stop the bleeding and then I was then transfered to the labour ward for monitoring and had to stay in hospital until the next day. All was fine though.

So now we are getting used to being a family of 4. Dealing with feeding dilemmas, sleeping issues, keeping baby warm and making the eldest feel involved.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
