Hospital bag is my next job... the actual bag as well as the contents! I've got no idea what I'm looking for, but have plenty of time as am *only* 26+1 lol x

Went to the Manchester Baby Show over the weekend, wasn't that impressed TBH but maybe that's just because they didn't have the things we need/want, e.g no maxi cosi carseats, no cribs! A lot of the stuff was 'nice to haves' like snugglebundl, hypnobirthing, bespoke clothes and blankets etc. We did get a 'baby safe box' which has all the essentials for when your child is sick and most importantly there was a bra lady there. I haven't been measured for a looong time, and my current only bra (a 34H!) is falling apart and way too small and causing pain and probably blocked milk ducts being underwired... anyway after trying 4 bras on I was crying from stress as nothing seemed exactly right, and it was so warm in there, so the lady is going to come and do a home fitting. I did get one bra though for now, it's more like a crop top suitable for maternity and nursing (and size 38 H-I !!!!!!!) but I'm comfortable and it seems to be holding them up! I might just make do with this now and have her come round to refit me nearer my due date.

Ordered our car seat and crib at Mothercare on the way home from the baby show, again was a bit sad as despite the store in Ancoats being pretty big (the biggest I know of around here) they never seem to have anything in stock and so it's all being delivered. I quite like going out of a shop with a bag in my hand! So we are making progress on purchases... still need something for lil HB to sleep in when he is downstairs, a baby monitor and then I think everything else is minor things.

    xx

Thanks for the heads up on the boots offer birdie.

The Doppler I ordered from eBay came just now, it was ridiculously cheap as it was listed wrong so was hard to find. Its 9 days after I ordered it (uk seller, but things from china take similar times!), and worryingly it came packed only in kitchen roll & brown paper! I really hope it works!
I didn't want to get one earlier as it would make me more anxious, but I decided it would help husband bond & be nice for our parents to hear :)

Thanks for all the good luck wishes, but I haven't been able to go in today. :(

I phoned labour ward at 8, as instructed in my letter, having been awake most of the night stressing out, for the midwife to say that they can only induce 2 people and they have 4 booked in today. The Dr's get in at 8.30, so ring back at 9 and they'll have decided who is going to be induced and who's not. Cue an hour of crying to hubby and "I can't cope" etc.

9am, I phone back, the Dr's haven't chosen me today. It's like a blimmin game show, except it's my life!!!

The poor midwife could tell how hacked of I was I think, so she's taken my number and said if anything changes she'll ring, and said I could ring them again this afternoon if I want to "see if the situation has changed." Other than that, ring at 9 tomorrow after the Drs have decided if I'm a lucky winner tomorrow. Grrrrr. :(

I understand they can't help being busy, but when I was told at 37 weeks by the consultant that "It will be big, but fingers crossed you will be able to push it out naturally" and "We won't let you go overdue because of baby's size." It becomes a little bit stressful being 12 days over and still no signs!

Oh emz I do hope they pull themselves together and get you in sooner rather than later!

My day before last at work and I am loving the sun and the opportunity to pace myself a little to prepare for my final handover tomorrow :) All this time I've been annoyed at having less and less to do and today I couldn't care much less!

The fine weather has made me think though - I currently have no flats which aren't for bad weather! I have my snow boots which will be going in the bin asap as I noticed they are more than on their last legs (only cost £9.99 in the sale a little over a year ago so not so bad!) and some cheap ankle wellies! I need to get myself some pumps asap I think! ballet pumps, plimsolls and flip flops are the flats I usually live in over summer. Other than that it's all wedges and pretty heels for me (super girly girl at every opportunity haha)

  • oh no emz that sounds awful, I would be so frustrated too especially with what they've said about the baby being bigger. so annoying that you can't just go down there and demand a baby!

sunshine that's what I thought of the baby show too, a lot of 'nice to have' stuff but we didn't buy much, just a lovely Moses basket from that lollipop lane stand that was £40 with a stand which I thought was a good price. I was looking for that bra stall and I must have completely missed it! mind you it was so hot in there we wanted to get out, especially my boyfriend.

Emz - it must be so frustrating for you, have my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be your day if baby doesn't decide to make an appearance today/tonight!

I think it's outrageous a) that the consultant has been saying such scaremongery things to you and b) that you were given a promise which they have now gone back on in a big way.

Thanks for the support ladies. It is frustrating that the consultant can say things but actually they don't mean anything.

    Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
