  • We haven't really discussed visitors yet. I went to visit my older sister in hospital after my niece and nephew were born, my younger sister at home the day my niece was born (she was discharged within hours) and my nephew in hospital a couple of days after he was born. Thinking about how tired I am now and how long some of the births were I am surprised they were up for visitors at the time!

Not sure I'd be up for all those visitors so might be upsetting my family a little bit but I need to make sure I am happy with feeding baby and get myself sorted a bit. Not sure about DH's parents yet....there's a little bit of a argument with them at the moment so not sure if DH will be talking to them when baby turns up. His brother lives a while away so I imagine will see baby sometime over Christmas.

My mum was also at the birth of all four nieces/nephews my side. I will just have my DH there. I think my mum knows this and she hasn't said anything. We'll let her know when things happen and she knows I'll let her know if/when we want her to come up. My 5 year old nephew thinks DH and him will be my birthing partners:rotfl:. He obviously doesn't understand what it is but looked a little upset when I said he was way down the list of potential birthing partners.

My mum has mentioned taking some time off around the due date (they live locally) so she can come and help but DH is off around the due date so she might take some off after that. I said she can make me dinner. :rotfl:

Someone else making you a meal is a godsend! The best gift we got was some home cooked, frozen meals from my step mil. If someone is willing to cook you a few meals in those early days, let them! Lol

From now on, friends and family expecting a baby will be given a JustEat voucher (if they don't live close by) or a few home cooked frozen meals. Invaluable!

  • New car seat ordered... was waiting for mothercare discount code to come through but it went back up in price again today (typical!) so ordered it from john lewis in the end as they still had price match on. Either way we had vouchers to use so it hasn't cost us cash which is lucky!

We have all the big stuff purchased but it's all the little bits that add up... bedding, cot sheets, moses basket mattress & sheets, car seat adaptors for pram, muslin squares, car window blinds, car mirror, curtains and curtain pole (still haven't decide what colours we are going for in the nursery!!), dummies, pump, nappies! We have more than enough clothes to see us through first few weeks thanks to donations from friends.

We do still have a few weeks (am 32 tomorrow) but don't feel anywhere near prepared!

Baby has stayed head down apparently :j I was a little unsure as I was finding it hard to tell if it was his bum or head at the top of my bump and was starting to get a little paranoid he had turned breach.

I'm getting some mild braxton hicks a few times a day now, I don't actually feel them but my bump goes hard for a minute or two then back to normal. Very bizarre!

  • !!!!!! DH and I have started the day on an argument regarding his parents coming to see the baby! This is beyond ridiculous... why do people find it so hard to accept what people want? Why do people make it about themselves? Apparently they want to be the first to see the baby... what do they think we are going to do before they get a flight down? Throw a huge party the day I get home and invite all of our friends to see the baby first? I am so mad!

Sorry to hear about our rubbish morning psycho, I'd put your foot down. The important thing is that your new little family is well, if you upset a few people on the way they'll soon get over it because they have to.

I'm trying but unfortunately DH likes to please both me and his family. We had the same issues with planning the wedding. I appreciate she wants to be involved as it's her son but equally she isn't my mum and has to understand that! For someone that says she likes to talk about things if she has an issue, she doesn't seem to be talking about it with us! My SIL is due over christmas and has asked her to be a birthing partner so she will have so much more involvement then! Gah... sorry for the rant peoples, I'm just furious!
