Thanks mancmama! Will post more details later but for now....

Our gorgeous little girl, Jessica Christine Lee Cox was born in the pool at home at 6.32 am weighing 7lb 4.

We didn't go to bed until really late but at just after two I started getting radiating pains that went through my back to my pelvis. As they were intense we timed them and they were four minutes apart lasting almost a minute.

Hubby called doula who left immediately and notified triage. They soon ramped up really quickly but we were telling the midwife not to rush thinking we had ages! By 6 am I was marching the living room floor pretty much wailing and asking the midwife politely if I could have some gas and air. She wanted to do BP and babies heartbeat first but I told her I was pushing and wanted to get in the pool. I'm not sure anyone really believed me at that point!

She just about did my blood pressure before I was pushing and I told her I could actually feel the head moving down. Hubby was frantically trying to get the pool up to temperature as we'd left it cooler for me to labour in!

Within three pushes her head was out and within a few minutes her body came. I delivered her myself and dad cut the cord. I did tear but never felt it happen and midwives were able to stitch me up no problem.

I was hoping for a natural third stage but the placenta was taking ages so had the injection
Unfortunately it still didn't want to come out and they did call an ambulance for an emergency transfer but by some miracle it came out just before they knocked on the door!

For those interested, my placenta was perfect, even though I was overdue. I'm over the moon we had a great homebirth, midwives were fantastic, my doula was great and my husband was the best birth partner I could ask for

I'd absolutely choose to home birth again

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Wow congratulations JTR2803! What a lovely name for your little girl.

I'm so glad it went well and you had no interventions on the end. I couldn't make out if you actually used the pool but I hope it was nice if you did.
