You're all great. It's sad but I suppose not that surprising that so many people have been through this sort of thing. A colleague of my OH lost a child just a few weeks before our twelve week scan. I think the NT scan and blood test revealed a very high risk, it turned out that the baby had almost all of the genetic conditions that they test for.
My OH is so strong and brave I know she'll be a great mother.
We had a lovely day out today, was good to get away from the house work. We're getting there. Kitchens finished really. Just waiting for extension to be done - hopefully only a week or so of work left to go on it then the builders should be done.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Glad you had a much needed lovely day out yesterday Freddie.
I've decided I'm doing absolutely nothing today!! My whole body is aching, everything I do is just painful, even just sitting down isn't easy and I have to keep changing how I sit! Never mind, I know this pain and discomfort will all be worth it.
It's much cooler here today, hope it's cooled down where ever in the country you all are.0 -
Just spent an age struggling to get car seat into OH's Fiat 500. We've tried every which way of getting it in. Through the boot cos the gap behind seat was too narrow. Tried climbing in through the boot to get next to it. So awkward!
Must have looked like nutters, pregnant lady and me awkwardly scrambling into the tiny boot of a Fiat 500!
We found a way that worked alright in the end up it's certainly not easy. My Focus is a doddle to put it in, in comparison.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Is it a car seat that stays in the car or will you have a struggle every time you need to put the car seat in??!
Luckily we both have 5 doors, but we haven't tried getting the pushchair n the boot yet, I know it will go in my car fine, but oh usually has work bits and his golf trolley in his car, but I think as long as he takes the trolley out the chassis will fit in fine as should the carry cot or seat unit, but this could go on the back seat if needed.
I'm currently trying to decide which car seat to get for oh car. We are going to get one from birth til 4 that can just stay in his car, but I can decide which one to get.0 -
It's car seat that goes with the travel system, I think the position of the straps would make it awkward to get baby in and out with the seat in place.
I want to get a seat eventually thats like a group 1-3, hoŵever I want to get one that is rear facing for longer, but haven't seen one.
We were talking about getting a new car, until we eventually found a way of doing it! Will see how it goes. Obviously be harder when there's a baby inside. It's only three days a week when OH will be needing to use that car with the baby on her own - she really doesn't want to get rid of it either, she really likes that car!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

I've been looking at the joie I anchor advance which goes rearward from birth to 4 years, but need to just look at the reviews a little bit more.
Hopefully going to put the pushchair together tomorrow! Can have a proper play about with it then.0 -
Glad you got there in the end Freddie.
We collected our travel system this weekend, and also had a go at putting in the car seat. I don't feel like we need to spend the extra £100 on an isofix at the moment, the only thing that might change my mind is if we have a really bad Winter weather wise and I need to get in the car quickly without faffing about with the seat belt - hopefully by then I'll be much quicker at it though! I also want to get a more long term rear facing seat that will last most of the stages after this one. Hopefully after the law changes in December there will be better choice for rear facing out there.0 -
What are the law changes coming in in Dec?
We got the isofix base as firstly it was on offer when you got the car seat but I also like the convenience of having a base and the fact I have less risk of installing it incorrectly.0 -
ThinkPink I think it's that they need to be rear facing until 15 months minimum but someone will probably confirm/deny very shortly.
We luckily got a car seat from a friend that fits our travel system so I can research what one to go for once baby is not quite so newborn. I would also be looking for one the rear faces for longer.
I am exhausted today. We went to friends for dinner on Friday which was lovely but didn't get to bed til gone 1.30am. I had a lovely massage yesterday morning and then we had a neighbours BBQ and a friends BBQ to go to... Got to bed at midnight. Tried to lay in but couldn't get back to sleep. Should probably practise hypnobirthing breathing techniques more - my friend swears it helps her get back to sleep!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

I used a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix last time and belted it in. Then got a Britax 2-way Elite when she outgrew it, as it's an extended rear-facing carseat that doesn't need iso fix and uses a five-point harness until a higher weight limit (I have friends with large 2.5 year olds who are too heavy for their car seat but are too young to not use a harness). I think it's a group 1-4 which means it's fantastic value as we won't need anything else. Unfortunately our car has under-floor storage compartments, so even though we have iso fix points we can't use any seats or bases that use a foot prop. Gutted as it really restricted our choices.
If anyone lives near one of the 3 In Car Safety Centres then I highly recommend a visit as their knowledge of car seats and their stock of rear-facing ones is very extensive. They import many to get the best from around the world, particularly Sweden which leads the way in extended rear-facing and car seat safety testing. Their website has lots of info too. They even have more options for belted extended rear-facing than they did 2 years ago so this baby will have more choice. http://incarsafetycentre.co.uk/category/extended-rear-facing/
I'm thinking of getting a new group 0+ car seat this time as I like the idea of one's where the baby can lay flat when it's not in the car. It's good for their back and breathing, but I don't intend to keep the baby in the car seat for too long so might be unecessary. I think it's designed to last until the baby is 15 months to help with the current laws.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
