Oh that's lovely that you are reusing the crib that you used to have. And handy it fits in with current regs.

Quick question- has anyone with a Moses basket or carry cot purchased sheets that aren't elasticated that whole way around the edge? I got some from mothercare which are elasticated all the way around and they do fit on my carry cot mattress but it was a bit of a mission initially putting on so I was hoping to get some which aren't as elasticated!!

That's lovely about the crib Freddie!

All the ones I've seen have been fitted ThinkPink, but the ones I've bought haven't been an overly tight fit. Do you have a B&M near you? They sell them for about £3 for a pack of 2.

thank you. I do, will have to pop in there and have a look. The ones I have are from mothercare and are really elasticated which makes putting them on the carry cot mattress a bit difficult as it then pulled the ends of the mattress together. Once flattened out in the carrycot it was ok but some less elasticated ones would would make it much easier. plus the b and m ones sound much better value than the mothercare ones which I paid about £7.50 for 2.

Gosh babies and houses are so expensive!!

Tomorrow will be our last pay day on full pay as well. Her maternity leave officially starts next Monday (although she's been on holiday for the past 5 weeks so timed that well!)

We'll be fine, won't be rolling in it but we should break even at least. Only have to dip into savings if there's an emergency.

Like realising 5 weeks before the baby is due that your car is too small!:rotfl:

That gave us a nice little panic, lucky we managed to find a way of getting the car seat in - we'll cope for now and if it's a major problem then we'll change the car if absolutely necessary. She loves her little Fiat 500, her first car (her Mum owned it before her) it's been really reliable and it was even our wedding car last year.

Spruced it up with ribbons and bows. Looked really good and it fitted our little wedding perfectly.

I used my sister's fiat 500 for the bridesmaids at my wedding with ribbons on, and it was a lovely day and the roof went down, looked fab!!

Thats exactly the same for us Freddie, this month was my last month on full pay with maternity starting 5th September. I must find the breakdown they sent me so I'll know exactly what I'll be getting each month. I think we will just about be ok money wise, like you it will just be if something unexpected comes up, plus things like Christmas, but I've already started to buy a few bits so I'll probably aim to get a few more bits whilst I'm getting the 90% part of pay.

Freddie it's lovely you've got the family crib and that your parents also sorted the mattress and bedding.

I used Tommee Tippee bottle last time but because they are so wide the baby needs to be completely horizontal to get the milk. It was fine for a long time but as my daughter got bigger that became a little annoying at the end of the drink. So o thought I might try something different this time, perhaps Nuk or anything else people have read is good?

I didn't buy a pump or milk last time and my daughter never latched. I was sent home because we thought breastfeeding was working but then she went all lethargic and wouldn't feed the next day. Turns out she became jaundiced and the quickest way to fix it was formula feeding so after coming back out of tge hospital we bought some ready made and had to practically force feed every 3 hours. She was on the mend the next day. If you have shops nearby then it's so easy to get milk quickly. My milk then came in the evening of the third day and I sent my OH out on a late night dash for a pump and storage bottles so I could express. Expressing is very hard and not everyone gets the volume that a baby would but it is nice to be able to give my baby some breast milk in their early days. The Medela Swing was the most highly rated a couple of years ago. It's so hard as everyone will have a different experience, but with 24 hour supermarkets and retail parks nearby most can get something quickly if they know what they want.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

I'm also starting to look at getting things sorted for Christmas. Everybody is complaining that things are starting to appear in the shops already but it's quite handy when you have to get it all done early!

Glad it's not just me that is being organised with Christmas this year beckyy. I feel i need to be this year. We have already said that we won't be getting baby much this year, I said to oh, if anything I would rather put the money by and then buy him some kind of toy for the garden in the summer.
  • Another Nanny tip after my 3 babies and the grandbabies - much easier than fitted sheets for baskets - try using a pillow case - lots of choices of colours - i used pillow cases and then tucked a terry nappy/or ikea towels over where the baby would have head as they are easy to whip off and replace when your little one dribbles or is a little sick
