  • Another one here who is overly giddy for Christmas :D I'm always super excited for it but this year we should have a 6 week old-ish and my nephew will be 6 months old - super cute! I bought a Disney Mickey & Minnie mouse xmas outfit in the sale at Tesco last year - so it'll be the Mickey one that gets used! Only £3 and adorable - then we've got a smart Mamas & Papas outfit to wear for boxing day and seeing the in-laws :p The adults on my side of the family are doing £1 Secret Santa again this year - it was hilarious last year and you can find some surprisingly nice things in a pound shop so it'll be hopefully easy to sort that out again :rotfl:

Got a really strange sensation in my mouth since last night - feels like I've burnt my tongue or something and water tastes odd so not sure what's going on there - weird pregnancy symptom number 147! I've got pressure lower down than normal but only 28 weeks at the mo - hoping that doesn't last for the next 12 weeks it's bloody weird!

:rotfl: I think a donkey would be far more fun than any travel system!

Has anybody had any braxton hicks?

As far as I'm aware I haven't at all, or rather haven't felt any.

35+5 now, and not long left until my a/l leave kicks in at work.
  • I haven't felt any Braxton hicks beckyy. From reading up I read somewhere that a lot of people in the there first pregnancy aren't aware of them but do get them.

Had midwife yesterday, still measuring pretty much spot on -he's followed the same curve the whole time apart from one appointment which he measured bigger but she said it was probably his position. I thought I would see her again before my due date of the 12th, but I won't, my next appointment is the 15th which could potentially include a sweep if I want one, will see how I'm feeling.

I can't stop going into baby's room and having a little play with his pram!! I've worked out how to fold it without scrapping the handle along the floor which is good as it was my one concern that the handle would get really scratched up and damaged but this won't happen now.

    Welcome Kenny.

Just seen that the aldi baby event starts online on the 15th if anyone is interested.

That's reassuring the hear re: BH ThinkPink and good baby is measuring spot on.

    How are you feeling now?

I'll have to check out the event at Aldi, they had quite a few things in it last time.
  • I'm feeling ok thank you. Struggling most nights with sleep, but luckily I usually manage to fall back to sleep after oh goes to work. It's funny how the things that ache or hurt me most are things i wouldn't have thought of like knees and fingers!!!

A few people have commented that my bump is small so it's reassuring that he is measuring well.

When do you finish work beckyy?
  • Had to resist spending a fortune on baby clothes in asda this afternoon, they have some really lovely boys bits. I got a couple of bits, one item was just too cute not to buy and I also got a Winnie snowsuit in first size as he doesn't have anything like this in New born. I liked the fact their first size goes up to 9lb which is bigger than places like next.
  • Freddie - you have the Uberchild Evo travel system like me? If so, the car seat has to go in back of my 3 door car (suzuki swift) too. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy to do. I've found I can take Lenny in and out of the seat when in the car, but you need to take the sun shade bit off the seat to give you room.

Re feeding. If your oh wants to breastfeed I'd advise not buying anything as long as you have a 24hr supermarket nearby. So many people give up on breastfeeding when it's tough like when they cluster feeding if they have back up formula and bottles to hand (not a criticism of anyone who has). We did have a steriliser set with a few bottles but only cos it was reduced to £2 at end of asda baby event. I'm breastfeeding so not used it yet. I've bought a medela hand pump but want to wait till Lenny is 4 wks before I start trying to express.

Psycho - I got a Santa and an Elf outfit in tesco sale for £1 each last year! Can't wait to put him in it

Hv came today and Lenny has put on 1lb 2 ounces above his birth weight (and he lost 5 ounces at start!). Total chunky monkey! He is outgrowing his newborn stuff already at 23 days old.

ThinkPink, I'll be on annual leave after next week til my due date. I'm looking forward to a break and hopefully a chance to get a few bits and pieces done but at the same time will miss the normality.

There seems to be quite a difference in sizes with every shop, 9lb is a good size for newborn stuff though at least the chances are he will get at least some wear out of it.

flutter, I'm glad Lenny is doing so well. How are you finding BFing? So many people have said about pain and discomfort to me, I'm not expecting it to feel lovely but it's helpful to hear some honest experiences!
  • Beckyy - on the whole I'm loving breastfeeding. The first few days it did hurt a bit when he latched on but it was a short sharp pain that went quickly. it did make my toes curl sometimes though! I've had to use nipple sheilds as my nipples are a bit inverted and I have massive boobs, so luckily no cracked nipples yet. I'll be honest and say that cluster feeding days are a b!tch, but once you give in and just plonk yourself on sofa with food/drink/boxset/books you can get through it. It's also tough not being able to leave him with OH to go out by myself for a bit (though hopefully this will change when I start expressing), and I do all the night feeds right now obviously. Oh sleeps through his cries! But we have upgraded to a super king size bed and a bednest for Lenny, and now I feed laying down at night so we co sleep sometimes, and I get a decent amount of sleep now (he tends to get 3-4hours initially, then feeds off and on for couple hours, then another 2 hours sleep. Twice I've thought why am I putting myself thru this after a bad/sleepless night but you get through it. But it's all totally worth it when I see him flourishing thanks to me, putting on weight and being happy. You will end up having your boobs out constantly! And after the first few public feeds you don't care or worry. I find the breastfeeding group I went to useful, nice to be with like minded people and share tips.
