    Crazy cat -
If your back is that bad you might be able to have Physio. With dd1 I put it down to normal back pain with pregnancy so didn't see anyone and ended up in months of Physio afterwards which could have been avoided. This time I've been in Physio since the first twinge of pain and it's been almost pain free (getting sore now when I walk but I'm almost 8 months)

As for swelling it's probably heat related but if you are
Concerned ring midwife. I swelled up In the depths of winter at 41 weeks last time and they took it quite seriously.

Congratulations Khal- that's amazing news and such a gorgeous name, don't be hard on yourself I'm sure you are doing a brilliant job xx

pig- I hear you about the feet/ankle situation, I panicked a bit last night though as I put my feet in cold (not tepid but FREEZING water... I didn't know what I was doing I just wanted relief) but they ended up seizing up and the pain was shocking from the knees down.

My ankles are literally overhanging my shoes, I liked my ankles as well  one of the lads at work is training for a marathon and was talking about how painful his foot was, I showed him my ankles and he soon shut up haha, no training needed to get like this.

I went to the drs today due to my lack of breath and the swelling, she did a fair few checks and told me everything seemed alright which has put my mind at rest a little. Does anybody else's baby prefer one side of your body? this little man is always on my right hand side, he likes to stick his bum out as far as it will go, which can be quite painful and as soon as I tap it he will move around but still stay on my right.

35 weeks tomorrow... BRING IT ON!!!

yes sorry i meant 06.05.16. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I really appreciate it. I am going to call the midwife tomorrow and get some more help on breastfeeding. I might also try expressing. I have always had small boobs and even through pregnancy they didnt grow too much and couldn't wait to get big boobs but now i have them i cant wait to get my own small boobs back.

Midwives aren't the best for breastfeeding help.. ring the local childrens centre and see if they have a support group.. they are trained to help with breastfeeding, midwives are not!!

Boob size is no indicator of ability to breastfeed either.

Are you eating and drinking enough?? carbs and juice are vital to milk production.. and if you decide to go with formula.. if it is best for your baby that is all that matters..

It takes a good few days for milk to come in properly too so you will only just be getting to that point.. give it a few more days and see if things improve.

    Added you back Becca :)

Spent half the night flapping about like a grounded fish.. my hips are agony again.. I'm never going to achieve anything!

I've sat and knitted the last 2 days other than school runs to try to stop them hurting.. it didn't work!

And I am STAAARVING!!!! Had a pear to stave off the morning super-hungry nausea.. will have a cuppa and see if I can tolerate food.

Need to nag DD1 about bedding again! She is slacking.. not that I can wash anything today it is tipping down out there!

I need some more hip drugs too.. and can't get a GP appointment, not that they will prescribe anything useful.. their usual response of 'you can only take paracetamol' is a pile of crap.

Ok i will look in to it today. I really dont want to give up. Yesterday i did express for one feed and she gulped it down. I dont want her to get confuse though. My milk is coming in but im struggling latching her on and my nipples are really sore because i have been doing it wrong. My nipple looked like a lipstick shape after i have fed her and the midwife said thats the wrong way.

point the nipple up to her nose when latching her on.. she will take more of the underside of the areola into her mouth that way and the nipple will be placed further back in her mouth..

lansinoh cream is the best thing in the world for sore nips.. if you could get someone to grab you some if you have none.

The best way I've found is to touch the nipple to the top lip and when the mouth is as open as wide as possible put as much boob as possible into their mouth with the nipple slightly to the top to the mouth.. it will move to the right position from there easily.

Have her body chest-to-chest with you not laid on her back

Nipple-to-nose, chest-to-chest and roll her towards you to latch.. :)

Don't man-handle her head while moving her about.. support the neck in the V between thumb and first finger .. this hold gives you control of supporting and moving her head. The nerves used to breastfeed at all over the scalp so holding the head interrupts the signals to feed.

I hope that makes some sense to you!

Khal, did your midwife give you a feeding booklet at all? I'm not sure if they are available in all areas (as the one I got is specific to my area).

Mine has step by step guide in it, with pictures, along with info on common problems etc and how to overcome them, and at the back is a list of local support groups, specialists etc.

If you want, I can scan it in when I get home and email it to you?

Sorry to hear about the swelling skint - that sounds super uncomfortable!

Becca, I'm glad you're doing OK now, but do take it easy! Have you got a plan of action from the medical team?

Crazycat, I hope your back pain eases soon.

As for me, doc finally called at 4.50pm yesterday and has prescribed a course of antibiotics for my belly button. When I picked them up, the pharmacist made a point of telling me that they HAD to be taken on an empty stomach or an hour before food. I'm like 'what's an empty stomach?? Do people really wait an hour between meals??!!' lol. So, that's going to be quite tricky to manage, but whatever clears up the infection I suppose.

Otherwise all good. Usual complaints - tired, heartburn (woke me up on Monday night! Bleurgh!), backache creeping in, and occasional swollen feet (def linked to heat in my case as they've gone back down now it's cooler).

Oh, and Skint, yes! My little one favours the right side. She likes to stick her head out as far as it can go, whilst simultaneously sticking her foot out as far as it can go on the left side. She does that almost all day! Very uncomfy! What's worse is when she moves that foot down to the bottom left. I'm not sure why, but that is much more sensitive.

It's kinda cool though, cos on Sunday I was able to catch her on camera sticking her head out and then moving from right to left side, and back again! lol
