A couple of nights ago I dreamt that I had our baby and before either the midwife arrived or I'd delivered the placenta, oh's sister had told his aunt who had put it on Facebook with some bogus mega Italian name. According to my dream baby will arrive 8am on the 2nd, at home with no assistance. Highly unlikely on pretty much all counts!
  • :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I love these weird dreams, I keep having really strange ones but now my Husband has started!!!! Last night he dreamt that the baby came out Ginger so he kept putting hats on him for the photographs as he didn't want anyone to know we had a Ginger baby, he saw the nurse take his hat off and kicked off with her telling her he needs to wear one ALL the time. I wouldn't mind but although blonde now I was born a Ginger!!! :rotfl:

First day back today, whilst it was great seeing everyone and being able to chat with actual human beings (as opposed to Judge Rinder) I was knackered and aching like crazy after a few hours. Sent of the emails to try and bring maternity leave forward, hopefully I will have a reply by tomorrow.

Nothing interesting to say really :rotfl: we've still got quite a bit too get but we have so much work going on with our house that it's taken a back seat for now!

Morning All :hello: hope everyone is OK.

Crazy weather here at the minute, woke up to snow? Crazy!

Congrats on the payrise Euro - sounds well deserved.

    Welcome JTR

Has anyone decided not to have the whooping cough vaccine? I had my 26 week MW appointment yesterday and the midwife told me when I'm back to see her on the 18th the Nurse will be there to administer the vaccine at the same time. I briefly recall it being mentioned at the booking in appointment but I can't decide whether to have it or not. I did the one thing you probably shouldn't do, googled it. There are a few cases of still birth that coincide with the vaccine. I know they wouldn't recommend it if it was dangerous but I'm not sure what to do. They didn't offer it when I was pregnant with either of my two sons 14 & 11 years ago and we were all fine.

I didn't have the vaccines.. any of them.. I have never had a vaccination in my life and I'm not starting now.

HOWEVER!!.... My vaccinated daughter caught whooping cough while pregnant with her son.. he was hospitalised for 2 weeks at 6 weeks old as he was extremely ill... so the vaccine is clearly rubbish anyway otherwise she wouldn't have caught it in the first place! and having the vaccination clearly doesn't stop the baby from getting it because he did!

I only know 2 other people who have had whooping cough.. one was my sister who caught it at 2 and is now 34 and one 20 years ago.. the child of a former friend... DD1 didn't catch it from them funnily enough.. we were at a birthday party with them the day before their child was diagnosed.. yet my 2 were fine.

It's up to you though.. as you know I refuse everything and am just awkward :p

I refused the flu vaccine (as the efficacy in recent years has been so low, and my immune system is fairly strong), but I did have the whooping cough vaccine.

I opted in for whooping cough vaccine because the efficacy is much higher (though not 100%, as pigpen's experience above shows), and the incident rate is on the rise. I've personally had a number of children within my family catch it over the last year or so and it's absolutely horrid, so I wanted to provide baby with as much protection as I possibly could.

It's a very personal decision though. So, I think it's probs best to do a bit of research into efficacy and risks, and then decide from there.

I am in agony today :( My right leg is killing me! on my thigh. I haven't done anything to it though, so I don't know why. The muscle is so sore, it hurts when I walk, or bend my leg, and if I touch my leg :( I think baby has dropped a bit lower this week, and I am wondering if she is pressing on a nerve or something. Is that possible? Also got a headache. Thankfully I've got midwife appointment today, so I can ask her.

Mine is still breech... feet in the foof are not pleasant!!! A head in the ribs isnt much fun either! .

Anyway.. I got out of the May wedding.. however, OH's mother appears to have acccepted the invitation to come back with OH for a couple of nights afterwards.. it's half term so should be fine, I will send OH with her and the girls lol.. and get the freezer full of batch cooked foods so they can eat while I'm not here or utterly lazy or incapable. So.. can I manage to keep the inhabitant in that week?? lol.. OH is convinced the second he gets to his dads on the 30th he is getting a call to come home.. I have already told him I would just wait at home and not tell him until he got back .. unless I was at risk of death I would as well, and he knows it!

  • That's strange euro, let us know what the midwife says. Pregnancy symptoms are the most random things ever, it amazes me how we all have such different things going on with us.

As for the whooping cough jab rinroo I went for it, I tried to do some research on it beforehand but there was so much to read and everybody had an opinion, on what I did read it made more sense for me to get it done but each to their own. I also had the flu jab the same day I hate needles so thought it would be easier to get them done together.

Rinroo, I'm getting the whooping cough vaccination at my next appointment. Has your midwife/Doctor talked you through the pros and cons? Alternatively, have a look at pubmed. I've linked an article, you can look through at the evidence before you make your decision: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/26739731/?i=4&from=whooping%20cough%20vaccine%20pregnancy&filters=ffrft

I will say (full disclosure) I am slightly biased as I'm a scientist (I studied immunology as well), but feel like people should always make an informed choice about these things either way, I hope it helps.

Things are pretty slow here ATM, just went for a walk around the shopping center and my back is sore now lol. Needed some body butter for my increasingly dry skin..other than that I got given a packet of macaroons today for being pregnant :D

Now if anyone has a magic cure for heartburn that doesn't involve chalky sweets I'd be all ears!

Well, I was wrong, baby is still breech. And in a very odd position! lol

As for the pain, she said it could be baby is pressing on something, but could also be down to having sat in a funny position - could've felt fine at the time, but when I straightened up, it didn't go back into the usual place. Basically, I've to keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, or doesn't improve, I should call and speak to GP and ask about a physio referral.

Baby was happy, but my blood pressure is raised again. Le sigh. Probs cause of the headache I have, and the pain in my leg, but they want to keep a closer eye on me just in case. So, I have another appointment on Tuesday to check BP. This will be at the hospital as my midwife is fully booked. And then Tuesday the following week with my usual midwife to check it again and catch up etc.

And baby hasn't dropped. She said it probably just feels like she has because she is bigger now. All measuring fine though, and heartbeat was good and strong and she wriggles a lot (especially when people try to feel where she is! haha).
