Just popping by: I am a bit neurotic with monitors though don't have a motion sensor one. I bought a new one for baby (with video) as still want my almost 3 year old DD to have a monitor in her room. My rationale (as she is in a standard single bed, takes herself to and from the toilet during the night if she needs to go, gets herself dressed in the morning before coming into me) is if she were sick whilst in bed and I was downstairs watching tv I wouldn't hear her. Although baby is in my room, I have the monitor set up so can go down and sort breakfast whilst he sleeps and can not only hear hm but also see him.
DD LOVES helping with ds - she chooses his clothes (babygrow) for the day, gets a clean vest out for him, undoes the poppers, regularly tells me she is changing his nappy at which point I give her a job such as putting something in the wash basket, or telling the cat we're on our way. She also puts all his nappies in the bin, and "checks" on him if I put him down for a nap so we can play together.
DD is also testing boundaries, but I believe it to be age related rather than related to ds's arrival. I confiscated her favourite jigsaws, her baby, dolly, ragdoll and a teddy the other evening because after an hour of asking her to return them to the playroom I had had enough. She knows I have them, and knows she has to listen nicely to mommy and then she will get them back. Unfortunately, yesterday she didn't listen and ran away from me whilst we were out (at a children's farm) so they're still confiscated. Oh, and we're just out a "why" stage... drove me potty though think the pregnancy hormones weren't helping.
Sweeti, Congratulations on your DD! Hope that you have a smooth recovery and are soon home again.
Take care ladies x0 -
Congrats Sweetilemonl! I too got an infection post EMCS but it wasn't spotted so its good they have spotted it now and looking after you
LittleMoog - our DD started being a "terrible two" at about 2.5, but three is definitely worse. Also in a why phase. Foot stamping and angry "no". Also more shouting from us. "This too shall pass" though my Dad insists it only improved with me when I moved out at 23
I'm also neurotic about monitors, also have a sensor pad and video monitor Angelcare. Can't yet give it up with DD who is 3 as I heard her being sick one night and can't bare to think what would have happened if I hadn't heard her and ran in. She will probably have it in her room until she is 15
Anyone have Braxton Hicks? What do they feel like and how early do they start? My bump keeps going tight, been doing it since 20 weeks. No pain as such, just feels really tight and heavy then nothing. Didn't get even a twinge with DD so have no idea, it went tight at the end like skin stretching but this feels different. 26wks now.0 -
sounds like BH money.. they are just the normal squeezings and wrigglings the uterus does you can just feel them now because it is so enlarged..

Poor you pigpen, I had a bad chest infection weeks ago and it was horrible in the night.
Thanks, I thought BH too, just very tight not comfortable but not painful.0 -
It's one thing after another.. I am sleeping virtually upright.. I wheeze if I lay on my back, I can't breathe on my left, I can just about breathe enough laid on my right.. if I lay on my face I drool and the baby objects to being squashed... So I am stuck in one position all night.. then get hit with one germ after another!
It isnt even related to the inhabitant.. its just like germ warfare .. no wonder I am so tired and the children are tired.. I am so looking forward to them finishing for easter on Thursday.. nearly 3 weeks off!! the school attendance was down by 10% last week due to coughs and colds and tummy bugs and scarlet fever.. so it isnt just my house either!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks ladies. I've decided against the sensor mats as my sister had one with her little one, but it was forever going off as she would wriggle in her sleep, away from the sensor and then of course, the sensor would think 'oh no, no movement, beep, beep, beep'. If this little one's movements, and my own fidgety history is anything to go by, she'll be just as wriggly when she's here! lol
Something to think about with getting a standard monitor though. Still undecided. Nothing to stop us from buying one after bubs is here of course.
I have no idea what BH feels like. I frequently get a stretchy, tight feeling, and my stomach goes very hard, but that always seems to be when i've eaten a big meal! I just assumed it was because I was so full! lol Other than that, I sometimes get a weird pressure sensation from the inside. Feels kinda like baby's stretching inside me or something. I don't know. FTM so this is all new to me.
Have put some more bits on eBay this weekend, and just finished sorting out all our boot fair stuff into plastic crates and got DH to take them down to the car ready for Friday. Am ready for a kip now!
Hope you and yours are feeling better soon pigpen. My bed is full of pillows now, DH barely has any room left! hahaFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I've been saying that for 7 months now.. hopefully we will all be better soon! lol..
OH has load of room I sleep right on the edge of the bed and don't move all night apart from my 6:30am wee.. he sprawls all over and nicks the covers .. probably why i'm always ill, I'm never warm!
I have the sensitivity up to max on our mat so if they wriggle off it still registers their breathing.. it is also only slightly narrower than the basket so they cant wiggle off it in there anyway.
I'd love to do a boot fair, I have boxes and boxes of stuff to get rid of. noone will do one with me and I don't drive so cant do one by myself..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Are you nearby at all pigpen? Our car is a ford galaxy - we have all the back seats down at the moment, and it isn't full so you could always come with me if you're closeby? I'm going with MIL and her friend.
We bought some more stuff up from the garage yesterday. I saw a flask of mine that I'd forgotten I had. There's something in it still.......I'm too scared to open it! Whatever is in there, has been in there for about 3-4 years..............
DH has limited room in the bed. I'm a proper fidget. Don't keep still, not even in my sleep. He now complains that I snore, and little one kicks him in the back! haha I think that's just getting even for the years of snoring I've put up with! lolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
nope.. a million miles away.. and tbh my hips are so bad I dont think I could manage it.. I did car boots with my dad and sister when having DD1.. right up until a couple of weeks before she arrived.. we made loads that year!
BIN THE FLASK!! OH left a dribble of coffee in his and it was like a glob of snot after 2 weeks and smelled rank, I wretched when emptying it and I have a cast iron stomach.
I snore now too.. but I am really snotty and at least he knows I'm still breathing (apparently I release princessly parps too .. and scare the cat and wake him up haha)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
We've had a house full of germs since DD started pre
School so can't imagine how you feel with more than one child pig pen!
Euro our monitor did used to do quite a few false alarms but it's not as bad now DD is bigger as she seems to cover more of the sensor pad!
Still feeling unprepared but I think it's because I sub consciously know we've got everything we need except a car seat for DD Just can't sort stuff into new wardrobes for the baby yet as we haven't got them. Equally think I've basically got everything for my hospital bag but because it's in about twenty different cupboards I feel disorganised!0
