as someone who was pregnant far too soon after the one before.. lose the weight from one pregnancy before starting the next... or you end up 5 stone heavier than you were before and feel like a big hippo and then you cry because your lovely clothes wont ever fit you again.. haha... totally going on a staration spree after this arrives... creeping back up to 13 stone is VERY depressing!

  • Sorry I haven't had chance to catch up with the thread. What point do midwives become concerned about counting kicks etc? Baby has been wriggling today but very quiet tonight which is usually it's liveliest time. Felt a few tiny flutters but nothing compared to normal. Aye sweet stuff lay on my side etc but nothing more than a tiny flutter. I'm sure it's all fine but of course I'm worrying and of course it would happen at ridiculous o' clock. Is 25 weeks too early to be worrying about regular movement? Are the flutters enough?

they don't .. 10 individual kicks or movements a day.. they may be all at once in a cluster or spaced out.. but that is all.

Babies have quiet days and wriggly days.. as do we.. we all have days with more energy and days when we want to sleep all day.. they are no different.. plus they need to sleep to grow.

One of mine (4th) never moved.. and I mean not once.. I had scans and monitoring and she was poked and prodded and did not move... she was born at 34 weeks perfectly healthy and she still doesnt move much!

you may regret complaining about fewer wriggles when you get in bed!!! ;)

  • Thanks pigpen. Was worrying so much last night then woke up at 3, spent an hour and a half worrying, no wriggles. Decided I would ring the maternity ward when I woke up but was rudely awoken at 6am by a kicking baby. So relieved!!

23-28 weeks they often have quiet days as they are doing so much growing they need to sleep lots. Mine didn't move when I got in bed last night and is pretty quiet today too but I've had maybe 3 kicks so I know it's still in there.. Plus it must be growing because I can't stop flipping eating!!!!

I can't remember how many weeks they start telling you to call in if there is reduced movement but they do say it depends on positioning as to what you'll feel. I've had a couple of scares, I usually sit up until I feel them wriggle. If you lie on your left side it's meant to be the best position and concentrate on movements. I usually have a cold fizzy drink and start feeling movements after that. I know early on mine were quite inconsistent but checking with the midwifes is not a bad thing if your worried. There sometimes are reasons for reduced movements so always good to put your mind at rest.
  • Thanks both. Very active again today so mind at ease for now. I just couldn't remember when they like them to be consistent by :)

I definately notice if baby is being very active one day they are usually a bit quieter the next. Thought they were trying to burst out the wrong way last night, my full bump wouldn't stop moving. Not as much this evening but a couple of nudges so I know they are ok.

No luck going into labour naturally yet so looks like induction tomorrow will go ahead. Mixed feelings, so excited, nervous, scared...All at once. I need my sleep tonight just don't know if that will happen!! Haven't told family yet but will probably message them at some point tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well. Happy due date in 5 hours Littlemoog!
